apologies for the spam but since nobody else is filling the thread, might as well

MOVIES
>Movie 1 - Mewtow: 7-8.5/10
Shudo did a great job for a kids movie. I recommend english Sub over Dub to get the real themes he intended to present. Mewtwo by far is the star of the film, and the anime humans are more like along for the ride. He has a lil depth, he struggles, and he grows. Don't expect some revolutionary movie or wtv. It's a simple movie that stirs you a little; it's a movie about appreciating life

>Movie 3 - Entei: 7.5-8/10
A fun take on the Rescue the Princess in a Tower from the Dragon trope. Nothing too deep, just decently fun. Shudo wanted a movie about Dinosaurs but they said no to him, so we got this instead. He also made the 2nd movie but MAN that was BOOORING

I also believe Movie 7 (deoxys), Movie 9 (lucario), and Movie 10 (darkrai) being fairly enjoyable but i saw em when i was younger so can't give real critique. Movie 2 (Lugia), 4 (Celebi), 5 (Latis), 6 (Jirachi) were either boring or were mid af, but each movie gets better lol.

The show gets consistently good from Ep14 (raichu electric gym) till Ep46 (Aerodactyl ep), and after that for the OG series it gets really spotty and inconsistenly good. Around the end there, they needed a ton more filler cause the 1st movie and pokemon's success in the west meant Nintendo was gonna milk this baby for a long time. For specific ep to consider as best-worthy

>Ep09: Pokemon School
This episode is pretty damn fun even without team rocket actually. The mean girl, and the cast interactions make it feel pretty classic

>Ep15-17: St. Anne Shipwreck + Giant Pokemon Island
This trio of eps is a classic. Notice Team Rocket's presence here, and how SUPER fun this is.

>Ep36: Bridge Bike Gang
This episode is super funny wtf. Again, Team rocket is a huge reason, and god Psyduck is the best gimmick added to the show over Jigglypuff and that faggot Charizard

>Ep72: Ancient Ruins #1 w/ Giant Pokemon
Probably the coolest episode

>Special Mention - Ep39: Pikachu's goodbye
Some may say most heartwarming/tear inducing. Nobody should gaf about Butterfree, fucker was mid. But Pikachu was important and that song pokes the heart

Other special mentions: Ep41 (Snorlax #1; fun w/ team rocket), Ep44 (paras is hilarious iirc; like the only time im fine with nu-charmander being a jerk), Ep47 (butch+cassidy from real Team Rocket 1st appearance). Maybe like 2/3 of the OG series is great, and the other 1/3 is mid. The best pokemon battle episode was Ep14 where Pikachu beats Raichu; it really peaked that early on. But some of the best episodes are cause of Team Rocket being great, which surprised me cause Johto brainwashed me into believing they sucked ass.

>ORANGE ISLANDS
Ok actually, Orange Islands is pretty great. It's actually better than the OG series after Ep46 where I said it starts getting spotty. The thing is, it isn't the same type of fun as the OG series, but it's what Johto SHOULDVE been like if johto was fun. There really aren't a lot of bad episodes iirc, but since it's johto essence, it's all basically slightly lamer than the OG series. It was this season that they started pushing for Ash x Misty shipping on occasion

This one is good. Real TR feels like a threat. Interesting premise. Simply a good story.

>Ep107: Snorlax #3
A fun snorlax episode like the other ones, but better than #2 cause TR is fun here.

Special Mentions: The fights are actually decent now, guess they stopped thinking that "violence bad in kids shows!" But I don't think they were like, super amazing, iirc? I don't think Drake impressed me, but I think maybe I liked Ep99 against Prima (nice rack). Ep102 with the mystery monster was a mystery to me so it was fun.

Good god, what a slog. Johto is where they got real lazy about Pokemon of the Week episodes and the creativity really died. S5 has a ton more adventure so on paper it's probably better than S3+4. But since they're full of trash, their highlights when they're good are much more memorable. I save S5 for later

Hey, fuck you all! Casey is a gem! She has the cutest fucking song, when she cries because she feels she disappointed the family who roots for her, when she gets back up and kicks ass! She's perfect! A CHILD to be protected at all costs! Her song is perfect, her enthusiasm for a loser team is perfect! Also, at this point, we don't know yet that Pokemon anime sucks now. She could easily be this gen's EP4 Samurai, but we don't know that

>Ep153-162?: End of S3/beginning of S4
We actually got a good run here, much due to TR. Giraffarig on paper should be boring, but TR actually is a threat here, and it's surpisingly good; Butch+Cassidy #3 is the best B+C episode w/ TR antics
>Honestly Ep155 w/ Ursaring when I saw it was one of the funniest things ever.
Jessi and Misty swap places in the woods, and the two gang's are compared with each other, and I fucking died laughing. The thing is, upon rewatch, it's probably WAY less funny if you're expecting it to be funny. I saw it not expecting anything and loved it. Mileage will very but imo this was like the underdog best episode

The storytelling couple is cute and fun, and Todd is great as always

Best Chikorita episode with fun TR influence. Love the interaction between Ash and his best Johto poke

Special Mention: Ep134 is when the faggot Charizard leaves, good riddance you bitch. Ep129 is a cute/sad episode about Jessie and Blissey. Ep196 Ancient Ruins #2 w/ Overlord Jessie is pretty cool. Ep206 is 2nd best Misty episode w/ aquatic Nurse Joy

We finally got pokemon centered adventure arcs since Celebi was shoved to the BORING movie! Lugia >>> the annoying ass Larvitar voiced by the girl who also does Ritchie, god you just wanna bash his head... Lugia arc was cool, and if you consider it to be the best or 2nd best part of Johto, I won't argue. But idk if an individual episode here was best. Will say the same about the Johto League Silver Conference, except Ash vs Gary might be. Lotta other legendaries in this season; they really wanted to save all the interesting Johto episodes for the end :/
Oh, at some point in like either S4 or S5, Misty's VA basically gives up on giving Misty's voice any life, idk why. Maybe cause the Jap one revealed her leaving? idk. Well, Brock and Misty are both basically shoved aside in Johto, so eh

Beautiful episode. This is a contender for the best. Meowth is a good cheerleader.

Special Mention: Ep241 w/ the Witch girl + TR is pretty fun and funny. All the single Legendary episodes are neat, but not "best". Clair was the best gym battle, and Ep251-254 w/ the TR + Dragonite plot was fun.

Ash vs Kukui finale because I'm a sucker for well animated anime fights and it stands out as a really good fight, even among the medium in general.
>Movies
You really can't go wrong with The First Movie, 2000, Spell of the Unown, Lucario and the Mystery of Mew or Rise of Darkrai. The first 10 in general all have at least something to them that makes them worth watching to some extent, be it at least one particular sequence/scene or the overall aesthetic (the introduction of 4ever as well as the scene where the villain captures a docile Tyranitar and makes it rampage was really good for instance).
After the Creation Trio Trilogy though the movies feel very unimportant to me. They feel like they don't exist to serve any purpose other than game/event shilling (which obviously all the movies are, but I feel like up until Jewel of Life they all told at least a relatively competent story using the Pokemon involved instead of just existing for the sake of marketing).

first season and first movie were the only good and memorable
