>>12586583Yes, they look cool but you'll probably want to after seeing them a couple timesHonestly I'm not enjoying the game too much , the main reason being the absurdly high dodge rate, which combined with the fact that you can save/load anywhere and the fact that you don't want a character to die or else he'll skip the next battle to recover, turned the game into a savestate simulator for me. Mechanics are also fairly basic stuff for the genre outside of the 2 characters combo system

>>12585704Little conflicted on this, I love sakura wars 1 and 2 but they're only mediocre as tactics games, they're great as weeb visual novel dating sims though.Shining Force 3 is one of the best tactics games I've ever played, I like it more than Final Fantasy Tactics and place it up alongside the best of the classic fire emblem titles. Hopefully Wachenroder gets a translation one day, it's a bummer that the only person to look into it actively dislikes the game.

It's unbalanced, way too easy, the AI is braindead, and the only way they found to add a bit of challenge was adding some insane atk/def bonuses when a character is only one step higher than the other

>>12585435I randomly got Black/Matrix purely based on the boxart back then and loved how it had a hip-hop style sound to go with its dark setting/story. Loved it enough that I preordered the Dreamcast version. I did fall out of love with the game/series when I later got the original Playstation sequel (prequel) that sort of ruined the aesthetic to me.

>>12586884Yeah, I think the combat in SW is pitched at an audience who wouldn't normally play a strategy game, and want to be able to get through it without too much difficulty.But both are still great experiences. It has one of the best scripts of that era, the production levels are high and the cast are charming as anything.Shame it's a love simulator, though, it makes it difficult to recommend to anyone without cringing a bit.
