It's just 2 towers and a walkway. What do you do in there? Throw grenades to the other side and wait for the opponent to get bored and show themselves? At least put something between them, or like a tunnel connecting them.
That map looks awful.

huh? I've never played quake or whatever but I can look at the OP thumbnail and imagine a whole bunch of crazy battles happening there.

It's fun as fuck. There are launch pads that send you flying up onto the other tower and it's just a blast of a map
>>
>>12587183
I imagine the exact opposite, I see two teams holding up in their towers sniping, just waiting for the other team to show themselves. You leave the tower you're dead. It looks like an automatic stalemate. Would you go out on that bridge knowing the whole team is staring at it? There's gotta be something more to the map I'm not seeing. Cool skybox though.

There we go, that's something interesting.

That's pretty much what happens. The reason Facing Worlds was so popular is because it's such a simple map it was good for noobs because you weren't likely to get flanked. And it was a fast map to learn where the pickups were and what was available, which under standard rules was the pulse rifle, sniper rifle, and IIRC the rocket launcher and minigun. Any noobs that didn't start off with the demo level(can't remember the name, the one with that body armor in the air vent) most likely started learning how to play on Facing Worlds. It was also popular as a sniping training ground due to the level design being a giant shooting gallery.
I thought CTF_Coret was far superior and more fun to play. If Facing Worlds was the Turbine of UT1999, then Coret was the 2Fort. Two paths to each flag that intersect with one another and meet in the middle. Pulse rifle, ripper, flak cannon, and the rocket launcher makes for very chaotic battles. And no one has a sniper rifle to 1-shot anyone with.

It’s a better 2fart by far.

Just play the game, why theorize what a fucking map is like
>>
>>12587217
I played it for like an hour, 25+ years ago.
It's only popular with people who really liked it now so it wouldn't be the same.
I used to make CS Source maps, I know to analyze a map.

There are quite competent bots in the game you don't have to play with people
>>
>>12587228
I don't want to play it though. Do you want to play Tribes 2? I played a lot of that in the early 00s.
>>
>>12587229
Fuck yes I loved Tribes 2.
>>
>>12587183
It's actually miserable, even in UT2004.

>>12587217
He's pretty much spot on, at least when it comes to UT99.
But UT2004 (arguably the best UT game) was much better when it comes to this map. Or at least it was different in a way which I personally prefer. Dodging/double-jump, adrenaline system (speed/invisibility) and the shield gun made the middle section less of a no-man's land and the game was much more interactive. UT99 relied exclusively on the translocator to infiltrate the base and kill snipers&defenders before capturing the flag so it was a very stagnant/boring experience.

Its 2fort but in space. CSGO fags wouldn't understand the legacy.

>CSGO fags
I'm that anon. I played CS:S, not 1.6 or GO. It came with the devkit. People made so many maps it was my peak FPS. My parents were strict so I didn't get to play shooters til college unless I hid them. They took my copy of Medal of Honor: Frontline, I was like 14. So, CS:S found me at the right time. I never really like the 2fort maps unless there's stuff going on in the middle. Except for gungame, that's where 2fort shines. Coincidentally gungame is 90% of what I play in FPS. Best game mode.

>>12588063

CS:S fags are not the same as CS:GO fags. The latter is exponentially gayer.

Facing worlds is overrated, Phobos Moon, Hyperblast, Morpheus, Metal Dream, Sesmar, Coret and Cybrosis (ctf) are the good maps
>>
>>12587167
The only reason that people played Facingworlds is for the chill BGM

The funniest thing is, mechanically it's one of the worst CTF maps in the game, aside from the asymmetrical ones which were deliberately designed to favour the blue team to add challenge to the singleplayer ladder.
