Sega is the best place to play a lot of multiplatform games of the era, for example just about anything by EA. The 68k CPU in it meant that porting was an easy process between Mega Drive, Amiga and Atari ST so it was worth putting time into making good and excellent 68k programmers were easy to come by. Meanwhile the Super Nintendo ports were often outsourced to the lowest bidder as they needed to be pretty much done from scratch.The Strike series is a fantastic example of this in action, as are the NHL games.
