it's like that time the magic school bus entered someone's bloodstream
>>
>>12591893

is there a way someone could make a magic school bus type of track ride? like using the tram vehicle on a coaster.

Thanks to RCT, i'm now addicted to merry-go-round organ music / fair music.

I get Youtube recommandations for shit like this : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2asuLDq1tg&t=1437s

(And i love it)
>>
>>12592386
it's fun music
>>
Whoever named their coaster Butthole Surfer, I love you.
>>
>>12591874
this image made me think, there's probably a way to make a game blend between RCT and Dungeon Keeper
I'm not familiar with the genre or games at all, just throwing it out there
>>

>I'm not familiar with the genre or games at all
clearly, since what you suggested was just nonsense

Would you guys like the server to be up for all of memorial day, too?
>>
>>12592862
I don't think you can really add fantasy RPG combat to a theme park management game, these two aspects feel very disconnected from each other, like, you send your orcs to kill their guests, burn their rides, vomit all over their pathways etc etc?, i guess one could make it work, somehow.

Funny thing, i believe this game got made just because Chris Sawyer thought that the coasters in Bullfrog's Theme Park were kind of shit.

>>12592864
It has potential methinks, but you need a guy who can come up with some sort of bullshit-Blood Bowl esque rules for it, some kind of tweaker/junkie.

Loved this map, didn't realize we were doing it today as well since I was out, but I'm glad I got to add Scoliosis.
>>
>>12595247
Everything about this turned out so good. The people with the red balloons look like little red blood cells. There's a coaster called scoliosis that looks like a broken spine. This map size worked much better. Glad you all enjoyed the map

When are we going to get custom pickle stands for pickle park?
>>
rct things that frustrate me:
The sign perfectly aligns with a tile edge to smoothly join a wall when it's facing inwards, but juts out awkwardly when it's facing outwards. It always leaves weird little seems in buildings unless you put the signs backwards.
>>
>>12597175
Build walls on the outside tile inside edges instead of the inside tile outside edges.

What should I do with this valley area between the two water rides?

water ride

A little mine town shopping area to match the splash boats.
Could also go super simple with some fencing around the path and adding flowers like real parks do.

I went with a mine ride. It's got great stats, shockingly. Good throughput too.

Mine rides are right up there with spiral coasters as the "I don't make these often, but when I do, they turn out looking great" kind of ride, and they usually have good stats.

I'm actually using a Pinebook Pro which is 1.6Ghz Rockchip RK3399 CPU & 4GBs RAM so basically a RP4.The version on Flatpak is incompatible so I was hoping someone knew where to find an ARM64 compatible version or at least could confirm whether compiling works before I bother trying to compile it. I've asked Google about other games like Oolite and it says "Oh yes! compile it, it'll work boy howdy"..They didn't work.

if it wasn't clear, I like the one with the grotesque pickle on top the most. I want to place it across from the fries shack so the french fry mascot dude can flirt with his ugly pickle mascot girlfriend on the other side of the midway.

Made some industrial style terrain textures, really happy how the metal grate terrain turned out. So much time just saving files though, this is like 2 hours of saving files, i'm sick of saving files.

are the name of the pre made designs really supposed to look like that, with numbers only?

Those are from the user created expansion set. With the sheer volume of them the cataloguing identifiers make more sense.
>>
>>12606023
Wish they put the lack of naming effort into designing actually good coasters.

from what I can tell, these coasters were all made when the game was new, and a few of them were made by people who didn't know what they were doing.

Ok guys, I loved this game in the 90s, when my neighboor's dad used to play it in their computer, and my neighboor and I would mess with it in our teens.

I saw this thread today and added the Open game to my PC and added the custom objects, and scenarios and all...

Then I realized I dont even know how to play the vanilla game, decades gone by.

Where should I start with a guide on how to play? Any reccomended Youtube essay, or guide? A particular online resource for newbs?

Thanks a bunch, your collaborative scenarios look like a lot of fun, but I must learn to play first xDD
>>
>>12610571
I think the best way is going through the original game's scenarios. Work your way through the first 5 or so because it does a solid job at easing you into the scenario structure.

Outside of that when you're building coasters remember to use banked turns to avoid the intensity rating going too high. If you want inspiration for rides or designs check out what people post in the thread from time to time or even join our weekend server if you're feeling up to it. A lot of my inspiration comes from watching what other people do in the server.
>>
>>12610580
Much obliged!
I just wanted to make sure I was fine going in with a clean slate, to play the introductory scenarios.

Will ask specific questions after I am done with those, thanks!

>>12610571
Start the way most people did. Point OpenRCT2 at an installation of RCT1, open Forest Frontiers, and play through the original set of scenarios from there. They're all designed well enough to teach you what you need to know through gameplay. Post screenshots alongside any questions you have, because it's always best to have a direct view of the problem.
>>
About a year ago I was writing a guide to getting into RCT (which some of you might remember) and I think I want to get back to it. What does everyone think are the most important aspects of starting the game are?
>>
>>12611595
Managing paths correctly, always.
>>
>always set inspection interval to "never" any time I build a Giga Coaster to make sure they break down just as often as real-life Intamin sludge
I'm not the only one, right?
>>
>>12600806
100 BAGA stands.
>>
>>12612213
Make sure all of your mechanics are on patrol as far away from the ride as possible to mimic the extended downtime due to Intamin never stocking parts.
>>
>>12612213
>>12612679
Why don't Intamin water rides break down as much as the coasters?
>>
>>12611595
Explain research and loans.
>>
>>12612213
even if you set the inspections to 10 minutes, they break down about as fast in real time
>>

>>
>>12611595
All I want is an improved version of the paperback manual that came with RCT1.
>>
Working on a new map although i'm not feeling it, even if the individual parts are good. In other news, i figured this out (i think)
>>
So it turns out this whole time I’ve been saving all my sprites incorrectly; RCT orders them clockwise and i rendered them all anti-clockwise, or vice versa idk. A lot of things i made are kind of rotation agnostic but it caused a lot of problems on the pipes.

Anyway, here's another map. It's meant to be a quarry or a construction site

when you test these slope textures, please rotate your map a few times, because they are showing up inconsistently. The raked concrete lines will show up going across the slope when viewed one way, but then appear to go along the slope when viewed from the other angle.
