>NOOOO YOU CAN'T PLAY THE ORIGINAL JAPANESE VERSION
>IT'S TOO EASY
Why did Westoids Stockholm themselves into preferring deliberately broken games?
>>

This game wasn't liked.

Japanese?

True but Mystic Ark (the sequel to this) was well liked in Japan
>>
>>12592645
Which has nothing to with OP's assertion.
>>
>>12592660
Yeah, it doesn't.
>>
I played the US version and I loved it. Without the difficulty it would have been less interesting.

>Without the difficulty it would have been less interesting.
Agreed. It's not great but it's not terrible either. The story is basic and the characters aren't captivating or interesting. Honestly if you've never played I don't think it's worth doing unless you feel like you REALLY have to, for whatever bizarre reason.
>>
>>12592336
What the fuck are you even talking about? Why do you keep making threads that are all the same OP text but with a different game as the picture?
>>
>>12592645
>Let's include a character from the first game as an easter egg
>Which one? Definitely a fan favorite, one that everyone will love and remember fondly
>CLANK CLANK CLANK CLANK CLANK
>>
>>12592336
The brokenness can work for you though, you have to mess around with the systems.
>>
>>12593114
Everyone remembers the robot in the fantasy game.
>>
>>12593106
You are literally schizophrenic and imagining things that didn't happen.

The difficulty accidentally meshes with the presentation to sell the world as a barren, hostile shithole of a planet. I'm assuming that was their intention anyway, because it's so god damn ugly. Just endless wastelands broken up by patches of scrubby grass and a few scattered settlements. It's nothing like a typical fantasy RPG setting of the time.
>>
>>12592336
Who is saying this? Are they in the room right now?
>>
I regret every single minute that I have wasted playing that crap
>>
>broken
Hard≠broken, retard.
I beat it as a kid. I was 11 years old. I used Valsu but idr who I used as the second character. As a teen, I beat it with every combination of characters. I did everything there is to do in 7th Saga and documented all of it in a notebook, intending to make a FAQ but I never got around to typing it up and uploading it : /
>>
>>12592645
Prequel. You play as Lemele/Remere/Remeer, the king Who gets killed and replaced by Gariso/Gorsia before 7th Saga begins.
>>
>>12592336
This game really isn't as difficult as everyone says it is. Theres a good bit of grinding at the very beginning you need to do but once you're done with that it's a pretty smooth ride until the ending areas where you have to grind again for a bit, I really like this game incredibly underrated.
>>
>>12594904
Since the enemy levels scale the game becomes unbeatable if you roll Valsu as your enemy because he has a spell that fully restores not just his HP but his MP too. That is broken.
>>
>>12594930
Simple, just accidentally pick Valsu so that doesn't happen and you can remember the game fondly 30 years later
>>
>>12594930
>>12594942
Nonsense and saying it's a problem proves you only parrot what you've heard and have never actually played the game.
Valsu learns the Elixir spell at level 42. You're only potentially forced to fight him to get the third rune (Star) in Patrof and the 4th or 5th rune (Sky), depending on when you decide to go to Luze to fetch it.
There's absolutely no way to get anywhere near level 42 by either of those points in the game unless you're going out of your way to overlevel, which would be incredibly tedious to do by since enemies don't give enough experience to make it worth it. It would take tens of hours of wandering the map and button mashing, without progressing any farther into the game, after reaching the northern half of the continent to get to level 42 and as such, it's the definition of a non-issue. You'd have known that if you ever actually played the game but you didn't so you don't.

Something kind of dumb that always stuck with me from this game is an NPC in the starting town who has a line about how after all your years of training, you're finally heading out on your own.
>All your years of training
>Just to reach Level 1
>and barely manage to kill some birds and bug men right outside the city gates
Made me wonder how on earth do normal people even survive.

>how on earth do normal people even survive
By not leaving town. This means that the little kid lost in Bone is much more powerful than the average NPC because Bone is fairly remote and surrounded by strong monsters yet he got there from wherever the hell he's from.
He never actually needed you to escort him to Bonro (and, in fact, doesn't ask you to if you're playing as Wilme, Lejes, Kamil or Valsu).
Gain, Prosa, Bantu (or whatever his name is from Brush who studied Melenam and built the flying machine) and Prosa's lost soldier are also powerful.

I always assumed they managed to flee and run past everything, especially if they're alone and small, or that they got there with an escort

Good game but it's not as memorable as 7th Saga precisely because some of the worlds are too easy.
I like how everyone learns exp as long as you recruited them and even if they're not in the active party because then you get to swap characters mid dungeon as you play, but then this is also precisely what makes it easier
