Finally. True retro ultrawide gaming perfection.
>>
Neat, do Rastan 3!
>>
fuck yeah

do these games have ultra wide modes or hacks?
>>

The original arcade was 3 screens

On top of what

>>12592771
said you can even see that the first screen in the photo >>12592771 posted is darker than the second and third screens.

>For example: in Super Dead Heat, even though the monitors are lined up next to each other, there’s still a good deal of distance between them because of the anti-magnetic shielding of the steel frames (CRTs can’t be directly next to each other due to magnetic interference that causes color distortion).

>Darius, in contrast, does not stack the three monitors side-by-side; instead, it places one monitor each to the left and right, underneath the playfield (see illustration for details). Then half-mirrors are used to reflect the image in place. Thanks to this setup, the bulky monitors can easily be placed in the cabinet, and the screen appears seamless!

sorcery!

>>12592745

Does it come in a bigger size? (that's what she said btw)
>>
>>12592801
they used to do this same trick in movies all the time to make rooms look longer or to create depth outside a window on a small stage.
>>
>>12592745
Or I can just display it on my current monitor with letterboxing
This thing only looks 6 inches wide
>>
>>12592831
They usually are made as 8.8 inch screens
>>
>>12592831
Why would you want it bigger, this way you can actually see the whole screen and not have to turn your head to see if enemies are coming

to stay on topic, that screen kind of sucks other than to play this one specific title. If you wanted to be realistic you could just play it with black borders on a 50" screen and get way better results. I only have a 42" plasma to play it on. But one day I hope to be able to set up my spare projector with a proper 100"+ screen, Darius is on the list of very few games I'd use to test such a thing.
>>
You can just use a normal monitor with black bars. Turn the lights off if you're autistic.
>>
>>12592975
I sit at at least 2 feet from my 27-inch monitor, I don't have to turn my head
>>
>>12592745
I do think it's cool
>>
>>12592745
>Finally. A child can afford a screen the size of THREE post stamps
>>
>>12592961
The idea is cool but that's too small to comfortably play on given the sprite size.
>>
Yep, that screen is too small to make sense for this. But a projector does sound like a good idea for these games. You could get a really big throw because you would only need a relatively narrow band of wall to aim at. You won't see any light from the black bars, so it doesn't matter what is above or below the active area of the screen and you don't need to worry about clearing a huge area like you normally do for a projector.
