Was this a legit way to use a controlled pad in Japan?
It actually makes a lot of sense when you think that consoles come from the arcade culture
>>

She just doesn't now how to hold it.
>>
>>12596190
For nes is correct, otherwise the pain on the wrists and fingers start in an houror so because controller was poorly made.
>>
No, you hold it fully in your hand like a normal person.
The NES controller was just reusing Game and Watch buttons. You already held those in your hands.

>You already held those in your hands
Bullshit
>>
>>12596190
not everything is a "culture"
>>
I play like that. I am just that good.
No need to look at the screen. I know the exact timings for Super Mario.
Easy with practice.

Yes, looking away from the TV is also correct.

Itagaki-dono...

He's a confirmed shitter. He posted about how he went to his locals once and two fat smelly neets took turns gaping his asshole so he seethed and put tripping into brawl

Westernbros... have we been playing video games wrong all this time...?
>>
>>12596569
Speak for yourself. I already started using index fingers on the face button for games. If you need to mash that's the natural way to do it, coming from arcade

Capcom's official Street Fighter controller for the 3DO was specifically made to be used like this
>>
>>12596190
Yes. And it wasn't just in Japan. People around the world used this as an alternate method of controls. It works very well once you get used to it.

Third party atari 2600 joysticks came with suction cup bases as it was popular to tether them coffee tables. They were still small enough to be palmable like a regular 2600 controller.

I can only rapid tap with my right hand, so this is how I play NES Tetris.

"TO PUT THE SPEED AT YOUR FINGERS!?!??!?!" WHY IN THE ASS WOULD I NEED THAT!?
>>
>>12596557
I need you to stop writing like this. I need you to go outside and talk to a real person.

Yes, and there was a brief time back in the day when this was an argument in the West as well. Hell, Pressman Toys even tried to cash in on the debate at one point. Pic painfully related.

It's funny how this became a thing after stick players made fun of keyboard players for years
>>
>>12597490
>keyboard players

I can't play platformers etc for shit on a controller. Using the keyboard- right hand for dpad, left hand for action buttons I do pretty well! I bet I am not alone
>>
>>12596252
Hes controlling two characters
>>
>>12597462
When we played track and field and other button mash NES games as kids we always laid the controller on your lap or a coffee table and tapped faster that way.
>>
>>12597132
this is how I beat the torture scene in MGS
>>
>>12596645
When holding the suction one in hand, I would often put my fingers in a V and nestle up against the top of a suction cup in the corner.
>>
>>12596190
The NES controller is actually extremely high IQ because it allows the most viable variations of grip and technique.
>>
>>12596526
all the arcade port fighting games where you have to simultaneously hit or mash buttons to do common shit pretty much demanded this before they let people put macros on the triggers and got rid of most mash inputs.

It's the difference between comfortable casual play and elite arcade-style technique.
