OMG he is LITERALLY me!

>>12596901You think you're a Ness but you're not even a Jeff, you're a Pokey.
>>12596901Millions of shotacons have fapped to you.
>literally generic mute jrpg protagonist>party members barely have 10 line in the whole gameWhy people pretend this game has some deep story?
>>12599032it didn't have good gameplay so they have to pretend it has something
>>12596901You have to call your mom every couple of hours?
>>12599032Your points are irrelevant to how good a game's story is. Most RPGs have silent protagonists. Things still happen. Earthbound's story is amazing. I just think of Lier X. Agerate telling Ness to come back alone so he can show him the statue he found under his house. Stopping a cult from sacrificing a child. Mu training. Dr Andonuts's total ambivalence toward his son. The way the text so often reaches through the cutesy graphics to slap you with something that feels harsh like reality. The world is hyperintriguing and really activates my almonds like no other. And I played it when it came out and yes, he was literally me
>>12599032Earthbound is not a generic JRPG that follows standard JRPG customs. The characters are minimalist on purpose which allows you to project onto them. If you're the type of person who likes to meander in their own head then Earthbound is amazing for that. The whole idea that playable characters need to be "traditional" characters with their own fleshed-out personalities is often taken for granted, but it deserves to be rethought a bit in my opinion. It only serves to distance the player character from the player.
>>12599582Having the main character be a silent self insert is okay but having the whole parry be silent non-characters is retarded
>>12596901Emotionally stunted and chronically homesick?
>>12599680Aren't we all?
>>12599680
>>12599582Pretentious prick.Silent JRPG parties were incredible common back then, that was the Dragon Quest standard for a long time and you can see the same patterns in other games too.
If you're straight, love adult women, and want a good urban fantasy JRPGoat, G.O.D. is for you.
>>12599032>Why people pretend this game has some deep story?do they? I don't recall people saying EB has an deep story. interesting, maybe. It's fun and whimsical, but I wouldn't call it deep.
>>12599582>The characters are minimalist on purpose which allows you to project onto them. IOther than Ness, I doubt that's the case. Ana, Lloyd and Teddy are much more fleshed out characters than Paula, Jeff and Poo. The EB characters are likely just incidentally less fleshed out due to EB having less actual story than M1 or M3.
