I actually played this earlier this year. Solid game, but it was my first DQ game so I don't know how it stacks up.Started with the DS version, but eventually just played the ps2 translation. Bianca is best girl

I started it as a non jrpg guy thanks to this thread. I like the graphics and story so far, Papa is cool. The amount of random fucking encounters in that first cave though holy fucking shit. Will stick with it, thanks OP.

Re-releases added a small extention retconning said monster to be such a wuss around women that he thinks holding hands with a woman is something you have to very slowly build up to over a decade.
