People tend to focus on the platformers, RPGs, and general action games which never made it out if Japan, but have you delved into the less fetishized depths of Japan-only SFC/SNES games?Pachinko/pachislot, horse racing sims, mahjong, baseball sims, and just other genres of games which Western audiences don't seem to give a shit about.Basically, post any interesting or at the very least amusing SFC and PS1 games which never came out of Japan, but aren't a platformer, RPG/strategy, shmup, or beat-em-up game.
>>12600586Ihatovo Monogatari. Quite a unique game
>>12600586my gf and I play Super Uno a few times during the daywhen we hang out with our friends we play Dokapon 321 which is the only way normies might play RPGs
What mahjong games you'll like best depends on how much you tolerate/despise 2-player mahjong. If you don't mind it your options increase dramatically.Fullani is a great place to start. Yes, despite how it looks, it is a real retro game, it came out in 2006.On the other hand if you can't stand 2-player and want something with some meat to it, try the Shoubushi Densetsu Tetsuya PS2 games. If you watch mahjong anime you'll already be familiar with Tetsuya (because there are only like three mahjong anime). The games adapt the whole plot of the anime, as well as parts of the manga that never made it into the anime. These games are unique in that cheating is a core mechanic, which totally changes the way you have to approach the game.Either way, check out Splush Wave. They're a tiny Japanese company that's released really creative mahjong games almost every year since the PC-98 era. Most of their games are erotic fangames based on series like Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, and Fate, as well as a few others. They're currently rebounding from getting their pants sued off them by Cygames for releasing a Princess Connect mahjong game.Definitely check these guys out; even their bad games are bad in an interesting way and their good games are just plain fun.In general, feel free to just download and try lots of shit.It only takes like half an hour to play through a quick round, and who knows what kind of crazy forgotten 'jong masterpiece you'll stumble onto.
>>12600586yeah I played a few on the FC. The stock market sim game was horrid
>>12600627I respect how ambitious such games were even if they ended up sucking due to hardware limitations
They're really not that interesting.Pachinko shit is basically just Vegas sims but JapanHorse racing sims are also the same, and are basically bested nowSame with MahjongBaseball sims are sort of interesting, but no one really gives a shit about that stuff other than Baseball game fanatics
>>12600598Great, memorable and genuinely overlooked game. Finished it a few years ago. Don't listen to people who call it a JRPG, it's more of an adventure game.
>>12600586In a similar vein I played a game called Super Pachinko once where I think the goal is to make a load of money at the pachinko parlor over a month for some reason. Its cool its some sort of adventure game and you can unlock all these different casinos and buy furniture for your home but I never got very far because I have no idea how to not just hemorrhage money playing pachinko, I never made any money.
>>12600598>>12600890I was interested in playing this a while ago when I first saw screenshots but I did some research and learned its actually an adaptation of various novels by a 19th century childrens author Miyazawa Kenji. I felt like I would enjoy it more if I was actually familiar with these stories first.
>>12600915What is the point of such video game even, it's all about luck
>>12600586salarymancore
>>12600923There is some control when it comes to how much strength you give the shooter which effects where the balls go. Theres a lot more skill compared to a slot machine but im fairly ignorant when it comes to pachinko in general. im sure theres a trick that would let you win fairly often if you knew what you were doing which I do not.
>>12600607Why did you word-for-word copy a post I made three years ago?
Last year I played "Koi wa Balance Tatoeba K-kun no Tabou na Ichijitsu-hen" which is an obscure NTR-focused dating sim multiplayer board game. You move around a city picking up girls and have to escort them to a location while the other players try to steal them away from you. It's by the Chrono Trigger team at Square and has a bunch of cameos from Chrono Trigger characters. It's a really neat short little game with lovely visuals, and if you don't like NTR you can play without CPU opponents. There's a fan translation if you can't read Japanese, but it's fairly inaccurate from what I've seen.
>>12601013Now that is some crazy shit
