Who would buy a Dreamcast with the PlayStation 2 right around the corner?
me at a yard sale
me buying one used for $40 3 years after the PS2 came out
Me being a stupid kid who only saw GRAPHICS in game magazine and begged my parents for it only to trade it in for ps2
>>12602073I really wanted to play a 3D Sonic game so I bought one. Thankfully it got lots of other great games too like Shenmue.
Me because I wasn't allowed to play M-rated games until I turned 13>summer 2002>Dad takes me to EB Games one day>walk in looking to get a few used Game Boy/GBA games as I had just gotten one >Really into Sonic Advance and see all the Sonic stuff in the corner where they're trying to liquidate all SEGA >Dad comes over and sees the prices knowing I'd been begging for a GameCube>leave the store with a Dreamcast, a VMU, 4 controllers, Sonic Adventure and Sonic Shuffle >years later dad recollects that the system was being sold for $39.99 and the controllers were $5 each
>>12602073College guys
>>12602073I still liked Sega cause of the Genesis. So when the time came and I saw Sega was making a new console on was on board immediately. Ended up being able to convince my parents to get a PS2 as well a short time later. Cause it was a DVD player. A lot of kids I knew convinced their parents that way.
>>12602073Poorfags who wouldn't even be able to get a Gamecube
>>12602073I wanted to buy one since day one and still wanted one after being discontinuated, it was so cheap and had a ton of excellent games, a good chunk of them infinite/multiplayerit was only when GTA3 hit the streets that I changed my mind to a graphics card
People with good taste.
>>12602073I got one on 9/9/99. The Dreamcast had an incredible day one launch lineup in North America due to being released in Japan a year earlier. I still contend that the first beach level of Sonic Adventure is one of the greatest demos of all time.
