I had moved on to the Sega Master System in 1989 then the SNES in 1991. But I had a lot of good times on the Atari. I think Rampage was the last cart I bought for it and it was expensive (for back then).

I always thought it would be neat if there were Atari games on CD that used the super charger. I remember seeing home made compilation discs of all the games for it that you would run off a cd player instead of cassete.

That's cool as hell. Just like the C64, you can load a game from any device with a headphone jack. Couldn't someone theoretically convert any standard 2600 rom to WAV format and load them onto the console through the supercharger? When CDs became cheap and accessible in the 90s, Atari could've ported all kinds of games to keep the system afloat as a budget alternative to the Jaguar. Wishful thinking without much financial sense, but it would've been cool to see.

This is so cool that I want to get one now. I wonder if you can use it to load modern VCS homebrew? So much extra RAM would probably be really good for homebrew, too.
I've been looking up the official supercharger games and they do look pretty good compared to the typical game on this system. Pretty impressive to improve so much on the original hardware for 1982 or whenever this thing came out.

I had always wanted to see Atari homebrew use this approach to distribution, but i guess people just prefer the carts. I would definitely buy a compilation cd of a bunch of homebrew titles. I have something like that for the C64 and closest i can think of for someone doing it back in the day was i think code masters released some official compilation discs of their games for microcomputers that involved using an external cd player.

Maybe not supercharger branded, but i could absolutely see modern Atari making an external CD add-on now for the original hardware/2600+. They have been throwing money at all kinds of goofy shit.

Binary works by doubling. 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, etc.
and it's an early 8 bit system; 2 and 4 bit processors didn't really exist.

let me correct myself. 4bit did exist, it was pretty much just used for early calculators and those cheapy dollar store LCD 'game systems' based on the Game & Watch.
