Why does this board hate software emulation and emulation handhelds so much?
>>
>>12603245
You don't play games
>>
>>12603245
Cost benefit compared to what you own. Think of it, to admit you can have fun which such a simple, cheap chink device. When your CRT image is not the same color or aligned as it used to be, your controllers start to squeak and miss inputs due to deterioration of membranes, your games are rotting away, and the ones that still work have trouble booting due to corroded contacts or weak misaligned laser beams? Fears of leaking batteries or capacitors, overpriced market, expensive mods to keep thinks running… how can you admit people can actually have fun and inaccuracies and input lag are not a deal breaker to enjoy retro games? And you can even take it out in a trip?

I don't, I only hate minorities
>>
>>12603245
Thank Jesus Christ in heaven that I emulated the couple of games I was obsessed over replaying

Made me realise what a waste of time it would have been to get the hardware
>>
>>12603245
I’m tempted to get a Retroid Pocket 5, but the setup process is so unappealing to me.
>>
>>12603245
Emulation handhelds get quite silly if you treat it as a hobby like the retards in their thread but software emulation hate is just a loud minority. I guarantee you the vast, vast majority of this board just emulates almost all their retro games.

Once it's done it's done.
I was apprehensive about it too, to the point where I thought I'd just use the stock settings and go with it but then I bit the bullet and got stuck in. Now the time I spent pirating ED-DE and the pro version of the N64 emulator feels like nothing compared to the amount of time I've actually played with it. It's a great device, not perfect but it plays a lot of the good stuff nice and smooth. I'd recommend it.

>emulation handhelds
I only play with real hardware handhelds
>but GBA emulation is a solved problem
my 3DS still has a fucking GBA inside, why would I emulate anything?
fun fact: GBA games run at 59.7hz, not at 60Hz like your chinkheld does, this frequency is a constant for the entire history of Nintendo screens from Game Boy to 3DS
only VRR emulation could approximate to run games at correct speed
you did not beat the game
>my chinkheld can even emulate DS games!
surely can't emulate resistive touch screens
>and 3DS games!
ahahahaha, not even close, even without considering stereoscopic 3D
>i don't care for stereoscopic 3D
sure you don't anon
>but I cant emulate PS2 games! you can't do that on your 3DS
PS2 is a home console
you play on your TV, with a dualshock controller
with a real hardware console
you don't play games

Have you seen that handheld general? They’re disgusting losers.
>>
>>12603497
Everybody who has enough of googling

>The game you played was running 0.5% too fast!
>You didnt beat it!

Yeah I did. I got a save state in the credits to prove it.

The Switch sold 100+ million. An adult playing it in public is so incredibly far from being considered weird ever since covid.
>>
>>12605036
only children play it

Definitely not true.

More powerful hardware with easily replaceable controllers can be bought cheaper. Most phones can handle up to Genesis. PSP can do PS1..
>>
>>12603483
You don't have to go through a big hassle setting up. Basically just install Retroarch
>>
>>12605060
There is something deeply brown about playing games on your mobile phone

>Why does this board hate software emulation and emulation handhelds so much?
It doesn't, this board hates niggers that use emulation and chinkhelds as a means to shitpost in every thread that isn't about either topic.
>>
>>12603483
>the setup process
I don't even remember setting it up. I've played dozens and dozens of hours of games, though.
>>
>>12603254
I know (you) don't.
>>
>>12603245
>hate software emulation
that's just tendies with buyers remorse after buying the same nes slop on wii, wiiu, switch and switch 2
>>
>>12603245
When I was a kid I loved emulating games. They were free and could run on my mother's garbage laptop. When I grew up and got some money of my own I decided to buy the games and consoles I grew up emulating so that I could play them "for real".
There's just something about browsing through the physical collection you spent years building up and picking a game off the shelf, putting it in the console and playing it with the proper controller that makes it all feel more genuine and special.
Maybe it's just sunk cost fallacy from all the money you spend that makes you feel like you have to enjoy the games but if I buy a game I'm more likely to give it a genuine chance and play through it to the end.

The input lag part sucks. I can get emulators on my laptop down to an acceptable 3 frames or so, but all the videos I watch with a camera capturing someone playing an emu handheld I can see the lag and it looks like it feels shitty. It makes me hesitant to buy one. I like the idea of having a legally distinct gameboy that plays ps1 games, but I just want one that performs like the emus on my computer. From what I understand android is the main culprit. But no, I don't hate emulators nor emulator handhelds as a rule of thumb. The concept is sick

>>12603245
well because there is too many imperfections and bugs, it has too many flaws

I think the /hhg/ just has me intimidated with all this talk of tweaking turnip drivers and shaders lol
>>
>>12605708
I have no idea what that means.
>>
>>12605542
I thought emulation up to 5th gen was pretty much flawless
>>
>>12606156
I don’t either, which is why I’m hesitant to get one of these Android handhelds.
>>
>>12606229
My point being you don't need to do any of that. I've played PS2, PSP, and DS on my RP5 with no issues without doing any of that extra setup with no issues. I'm sure ignorance is bliss, but it's not like I'm so retarded I'm playing shit stretched to widescreen with a BRZ filter, so I'd consider what I'm saying trustworthy enough to bite the bullet and play some games instead of getting worrying about shit you don't need to bother with.
Order the grip with it right away, by the way. It's not the worst thing I've ever held but regular use of the sticks without them will be uncomfortable. They released it long after I ordered my console, unfortunately.

>it's not like I'm so retarded
>all these typos and formatting errors
The worst part is I'm posting from a desktop, so it's not like I can even blame autocorrect.
