Will I get in trouble if it's not a /vr/ d-pad? Because my favorite is the Wii U gamepads, it's nice and big and feels just right. If I had to pick a retro d-pad I guess I would go with the Genesis controller but specifically the 3 button pad, the d-pad on the 6 button controller feels loose and cheap. I genuinely like the circular design it's comfy on the thumb.

Leverless is better with arrow keys. Playing with your thumbs is a shitty compromised input for portability and mass adoption. Mushing your thumbs across the face of a surface is retarded when you have fingers that can simply push a button faster and more accurately.
