I don't know if anyone shares my opinion, but this girl is not so innocent and nice, and I don't blame her if I think about it.So from when she was little, she was locked up and experimented on with her mother. Her mother dies while trying to get her out of Shinra. And she spent her childhood in the slums. She becomes attached to Zack, who is a 1st class soldier. But did she actually have feelings for him? or was she using him to escape the life in the slums with Shinra breathing on her neck? I say this because later on she falls for Cloud like immediately. What does she do in the first minutes after you meet her? She recruits you as her personal body guard.Again, I don't fault her because it's understandable when you had a shitty childhood that you want a protector, but people who think she's a nice and innocent love interest ignore these facts.Also, if you want to choose Tifa as your girl, you have to shun Aerith down and not talk to her unless it's necessary. So she becomes like an outsider to the group, which makes any romantic or flirty talk towards Cloud because of the script, even more awkward.

What always made most sense to me was Cloud went from liking Tifa, to preferring Aerith, to then settling back for Tifa after Aerith dies but only because he has no choice but to really.
