Is this the best transformation in the series? I heard that it's symbolic, that it represents the combined will of the people of Termina opposed to Majora. That's why every mask given to Link as a token of their relationship must be exchanged in order to obtain it.
>>12607681Idk but it was cool af. To bad you can only use it at the end and it trivializes the last boss fight so I felt like I didn’t want to use it so there was at least some “challenge.” But it was a really cool idea and OP, w an awesome design. Is this in any other Zelda?
>>12608242I think it's in the Musou games"Oni Link" was rather popular back in the early 2000s, I remember a lot of people using his image as avatars or variations of his name as usernames in forums and what not>XOni_Link_1488X
>>12608568Had to google that. Exclusive content for a game locked behind a figure is… bizarre. It’s not retro tho so I guess can’t really discuss that here.
>>12608596Not sure how you got the figure partFierce Deity Link is a super form for Young Link in Hyrule WarriorsUnlike other characters who just get a basic buff in super form, YL puts on the FD mask and gets a whole new moveset It’s really cool, that whole game is actually
>>12608242>To bad you can only use it at the end and it trivializes the last boss fightThat is the kind of surreal goodness that makes Majora's Mask so unique though.>final showdown with Majora's Mask>it's four kids that resemble the happy mask salesman playing under a tree, but one left out sitting alone.>they're all wearing the masks of the boss you defeated, Majora being the one left out.>once you have played with all the other kids, the Majora kid willingly gives you a mask that lets you completely destroy him.>"Let's play good guys against bad guys. You're the bad guy. And when you're bad, you just run."It's not epic, but it sure is kino.
I 'memba doing the wallclip glitch that let you run around Termina as Fierce Deity.
>>12608638I just googled it and it said to unlock the fierce diety mask you need the Majoras mask link Amiibo so if that’s not correct, well I’ve never played it so I just took google at its word. The complete edition has everything unlocked tho. Yea I def want to check it out.>>12608797I love MM but having zero challenge if you have the mask is just kind of boring and anticlimactic especially considering how difficult it was to obtain it and how hard the dungeons are compared to previous Zelda games. I love Oni Link and it was cool the first time but I’d intentionally not use it again because I want some kind of challenge.
>>12608804If you have a GameShark can u use that to use the mask anywhere? I’m assuming you can but I can’t remember. I did have fun using the GameShark for OoT flying all over the place until the game crashed when you go to far out of bounds
>>12608893Never had one so I can't really answer you, but I don't see why not.
>>12608886>I love MM but having zero challenge if you have the mask is just kind of boring and anticlimacticI would agree if the final boss was just a pushover on his own, but the fact that he is legitimately the hardest N64 Zelda boss without the Fierce Deity Mask, and he still chooses to give it to you willingly, and it just completely destroys him, it's all just too interesting and unique for me to pass up on. Bonus points for the item description hinting that the Fierce Deity's Mask might contain an even greater evil than Majora. An epic and hard final boss works well for a straight fantasy epic like Ocarina, but for Majora, something more trippy and surreal is preferable to me.I get that you prefer the challenge though, I usually do as well. Majora is the exception, where the game-breaking option makes it more interesting.
>>12607681IT represents the Masculine Principle being used to overpower the Feminine Principle of MajoraThis is why the sword is highly phallic and why Majora's end form is highly feminine with sex whips, eyeball tits, and literal ovaries. Its a reference to the Tibetan Book of the Dead where the Final Liberation is what's known as Yam-Yum Imagery of the Dualistic Masculine and Feminine Principles coming toghether in sex(in this case very symbolically as a fight in a Love Hotel Dungeon)and after that Link's soul can finally pass off after being in the Purgatory that was Termina aka Boundary and End
>>12608921*Yab-YumTypoIts a common Buddhist metaphor for the union of Active Passion(Masculine) and Passive Wisdom(Feminine)also another trait of Majora I left out was her highly effeminate voice in her final form you might notice when you ''''strike''''' her with the phallic swordMajora is a feminine nameRepresents the Female but it also represents Deatha Death Mask if you willThere is much deeper symbology in the name Majora and no contrary to what one of the Devs says its not based purely on the word Jumanji rather it can be connect to a Chinese philosophical concept known as Mu or 'Nothingness / To Lack' but that's a whole rabbit hole right there that no one with a philosophy course is going to understand so I will save you that one.
Oni Akuma would destroy him.
>>12607681>I heard that it's symbolic, that it represents the combined will of the people of Termina opposed to Majora.I have my own theory as to what it represents but before I can get into it I need to be autistic about Buddhism for a moment. The mask's name in Japanese is the Kishin Mask. Kishin (鬼神) literally means demon god but the word is used to refer to a class of buddhist gods called wrathful deities in English. These wrathful deities are followers of the Buddha who use their fearsome appearances and godly might to protect fellow Buddhists and destroy obstacles to enlightenment. Fearsomeness, might and destruction may sound un-Buddhist but in Buddhism there is a concept of "skillful means" i.e. it's okay to violate the rules of Buddhism if it brings people closer to enlightenment.Usually when you get a mask in MM it represents that character letting go of some sort of regret or anxiety. This is pretty explicit in the cases like the Kamaro Mask and Bunny Hood. Thus each mask can be seen as a symbol of Link's own skillful means and the good karma he has accrued. However once on the moon Link can choose to let go of his own good karma to help the masked kids move on. This gives Majora hope that even he can let go and move on and proves that Link can trusted to be selfless. Majora lets go of the fury that drove and empowered him to try and destroy the world and gives that power to Link so that Majora may relieved of his suffering. With this power Link is enlightened and takes on his true form as the Hero of Time, a divine protector of all worlds.>tl,dr: Fierce Deity mask represents enlightenment and Majora intentionally kills himself by giving it to Link.
>>12608921>>12608930You're definitely onto something. The Western incarnation of this would be the Apollonian and the Dionysian, where the masculine represents the former and the feminine the latter. As Dionysus is chaos and of the earth, so too does Majora pull down the moon and cause calamity, whereas Apollo is order and celestial, restoring the world by forcing the moon back to the heavens. In the words of the classic philosopher Douglas Reynholm>Women are a kind of savage animal who men have civilized with their insatiable sexuality.
>>12608921It's fun to overthink things and make up theories but don't it all too seriously, Nintendo 100% just wanted to make a cool guy with a big sword and have Majora be weird and freaky for fun.
>>12608984The subconscious always creeps into every work of art, especially something like Majora's Mask, which was the polar opposite of design by committee. Applying mythology and Jungian psychology to one's understanding of it is appropriate.
>>12607681https://youtu.be/oIT1wm3FH9Y
my own personal theory about majora:majora is shown to be extremely powerful, but never possessing omnipresence like a true god. i like to think that majora would have had to have built up a huge image of link as this kind of unstoppable warrior dedicated to an order higher than even the giants.that's why he summons/crafts a mask that surpasses even itself. if townsfolk of clocktown can manifest masks for link, why couldn't the deity behind the majora's mask, as well?like >>12608950 said, majora unintentionally kills itself by not understanding link's resolve as a warrior and essentially gives up if Link displays complete and utter virtue by saving literally everyone in Termina before coming to whup Majora's chaotic boy pussy.
>>12608930>Active Passion(Masculine) and Passive Wisdom(Feminine)I think the Buddhists got it backwards
>>12608984I found some musings from Aonuma googling around>Regarding the sinister and powerful Fierce Deity Mask, Aonuma explained the lore as the collective consciousness of Termina: "The best I can give you is just a suggestion. The best way to think about it is that the memories of all the people of Termina are inside of the Fierce Deity Mask."
>>12609521>Fuuuuck why are they asking me about this game I don't give a shit I wish they were asking me Toon Link questions...
>>12609535I think you're being too hyperbolic. It seems to me the answer is that fierce deity is in reference to a buddhist wrathful deity manifested by the people of termina to remove the obstacle to enlightment majora.
>>12609519It’s actually the union between emptiness and compassion.
Fierce Deity reminds me of another white-haired evil warrior, who was sealed in the body of a young boy until called out by the kiss of a virgin. He did good deeds only by coercion or convenience, but his power was too great to not use against other evil forces.
