Is there a game you played that you thought about how it would make an awesome movie, or television show? Morrowind did that for me. It would be such an interesting series with all the philosophic pondering it presents.

Literally any game wouldake a good movie/TV show with the right writers

I tried to autistically re-write Illusion of Gaia into a novel years ago. I didn't get very far at all

Bully would be a good coming of age movie/teen sex comedy

I'm not so sure about that, some games just would never make a "good" show, there's not enough material to make it interesting, you know.

Never going to happen for obvious reasons, but with Nintendo branching out into movies these days, it occurred to me that picrel would make for a perfect animated film. It's one of the few Nintendo games where story is already a focus, so it would be easy to adapt to a screenplay. It's short, so if you cut out the gameplay segments, you could perfectly map it to the pacing and structure of a modern animated film without having to cut any story beats. It has humor. It has drama. There's some fun twists. The characters are interesting and actually have arcs. If you told me it was conceptualized as a movie first and then adapted to a video game later, I'd believe you.

Other M without the cringe would probably be a hit as a movie.

I'll do you one better, Mischief Makers is a game that feels like it WAS licensed from an 90s anime series, except such an anime never existed.

For example the game starts off without introducing shit. The protagonists are space travelers with a history between them, but then the entire game is set on a single planet.
The planet is also not that significant in itself. It doesn't test the characters, it just has 1 bizarre gimmick like the type of thing that would appear in 1 episode of a show. That 1 gimmick is repeated for the entire game.
The game's story feels like it should just be a minor sidestory in these characters lives, but no, it's the one and only story with these characters.
Then you face the protagonists' old enemies who happen to be on this same planet as well, and the way they show up is as if the game expects you to already know who they are.
On top of that, the menus feature every single character portrait in the game. The game just casually spoils itself with zero fucks given, I've never seen something like this in a non-licensed game.

It's as if there's some other source material out there that provides more context, except there is none, the game is all that exists. I feel this that game is begging to be expanded upon somehow.

Not retro but, I think Far Cry 2 would make a great Blood Diamond style movie

Beowulf 1999 would make a great B action game

Holy shit, I remember this movie running in the background and ignoring it until I heard the banger OST, then I left it on with louder music. Great music in it.
