Scaling enemy strength is always cancer. The way to do it right is have enemies get progressively stronger through the game but incentivize you to go back to old areas by letting low level enemies drop items that are crucial but not dropped by stronger enemies, and/or adding new enemies to old areas.

Oh and to make things even better, we have a constant barrage of shit being thrown at you and if you get hit you get sucked into the nearest instant death hole. Meaning you get sent forward even if you get hit from the front.
