Anyone who says they've beaten this without a guide is lying.
>>
1. (Lie) I have beaten it without a guide. Op is a fag.
>>
>>12608802
Just try everything bro
>>
>>12608802
I did.
I will admit I brute-forced the betting stub puzzle since I, like everyone else, missed the conversation with Max

I remember getting stuck and having to look up a guide. Turns out, the game was bugging out because my CPU was too fast.
>>
>>12608883
Forklift moment

It was the first game I ever looked up how to patch a game.

This isn't Discword the video game.
>>
>>12608802
I bought this game on the Fisher Price tablet and never actually played it.
What would convince me to try it?
>>
>>12608802
Same with Hexen. Nobody on the planet figured that shit out by themselves.

I admit I had to look up the cat race puzzle. It's a shame of mine and I never forgave myself.
>>
>>12608802
Its actually very logical
>>
I looked up the cat race ticket stub thing because I didn't understand due to my age what it was even asking for, but I got stuck for longer trying to move that battleaxe around dropping it on everything to open the door.
>>
>>12608802
I dont remember how I beat it, but I did way back when it came out. I played a lot of point and click games and never bought a guide. I probably spent too many hours on it too. maybe it was a magazine that had hints in it, but I never bought an actual game guide. Im trying to remember it was a long time ago.

You have to try everything anon (yes homo)
>>
>>12608802
I cut out the middleman and just read the guide without playing the game.
>>
>>12608802
>without a guide
i got stuck at Year 3. but solve all the other puzzles by myself.
>>
I did but I literally just went the "try everything with everything" path to succeed
>>
i really like point and click adventure games but i'm terrible at working out what to do :(
>>
>>12609809
Take it easy and just enjoy the world.
Completing a game usually takes between a week or two
>>
>>12609817
that's what i do, i wouldn't get any enjoyment out of them otherwise, but it can become an issue once you feel you've exhausted every option in an area and just want to get to the next one
>>
>>12608802
Back in the day I just tried everything until it worked. Most of the puzzles are fairly logical when you think about it. Like what else are you going to put in the balloons to gum up the message tube server? The packing foam.
>>
>>12609875
i don't remember how i figured that out (and that's a fairly early puzzle), but i did so i suppose the game dropped enough hints.
>Like what else are you going to put in the balloons to gum up the message tube server?
sure but it's not as far i remember a question of "what to put in the balloons to gum up the tube machine".
going from memory, it starts with wanting to intercept a tube message... thinking about it there's too many steps to remember them all.
i think you're encouraged to put something you shouldn't into the machine to stop it, then you go to the machine room and there's a repair demon working on it who won't let you in who repairs it and locks the door behind him, to progress you need to do something to the door to prevent it from locking behind the repairman, but you can't stop the machine. the game must have dropped a hint that points to the packing foam, which was used earlier in a cutscene. at this point i suppose there's only so many people you can talk to, one being a balloon guy which gives you an option for him to make a worm (which is just an unfilled balloon)...

typical adventure game stuff where you're told the goal but gives you no direct path to solve it, gotta work backwards finding smaller steps you can do
>>
>>12609350

Same. I got up to the cat race puzzle when I was younger and stopped playing. Picked it back up later in life but looked up the solution for this to progress because fuck.
>>
>>12609823
>but it can become an issue once you feel you've exhausted every option in an area and just want to get to the next one
Adventure games aren't arcade games where you clear stage 1 and you go to stage 2. They're closer to metroidvanias
>>
>>12609961
you know what i mean (i hope)
like in grim fandango you know from the start of year 2 that you need to board the ship to follow what's-her-name, but just knowing you need to board the ship doesn't mean you can just go up to the ship and click on it, but when you feel like you've done everything you can, if you get stuck long enough you just want to know what thing you haven't clicked yet to get on the damn ship
>>
>>12609963
(definately not speaking from experience of spending ages trying to work out how you're supposed to become a union member... not considering that it wants you to incapacitate an existing member to take their spot)

I remember the metal detector not working for some reason.

Manny moves his head, pointing out every single interactable object. Most of the puzzles are logical as well. Just don't be an ADHD retarded brain-dead zoomer. However, I always lock down the third clue and have to check a guide to print the damn ticket.

Hated these. Especially the one in FT: for some reason I couldn't hit the spot no matter how much I tried until I reinstalled the game.

the fuck is that? the graphics are broken

i've gotten stuck in a few places, but not on the cat racing ticket. what about it trips people up?
>>
>>12609343
You mean Hexen 2
For the original I only used a guide once
>>
>>12610302
It is this room. I don't remember if it is hidden or blocked if the player gets a different tip first.

The optimal way to play this game is with two people, one playing the game in ignorance and the other pulling hints from a guide to tease them.
>>
>>12610887
Have you ever checked out the universal hint system? Functions like that when you don't have a second person nudging you to figure shit out yourself.
>>
>>12610907
The Universal Hint System? Well of course I know it, that's how I was able to beat this silly game.
>>
>>12610887
Also the best Let's Play format.one guy who knows the game inside and out with one that is new to all of it.
>>
>told for years it has a really unique story for a videogame
>play it
>it's just the plot of 3-4 really famous movies, especially Casablanca and Glengarry Glen Ross, with the serial numbers filed off
>watch an interview where Schafer straight up says that's what the story is

You might enjoy Super Best Friends Play
Their play through of I have no Mouth and I must scream is essentially that.
>>
>>12611095
I love Casablanca so I didn't mind. I need to watch Glengarry Glen Ross
>>
>>12611105
I was thinking of Chip and Ironicus but they work too
>>
>>12611106
It's a good movie about the soul-crushing existence that is working for a major corporation that pits its employees against each other to be the biggest seller (real estate in the movie, insurance in GF). Once you watch it you'll immediately understand act 1 of GF
>>
>>12611114
It's more a travel agency than insurance in Grim.
>>
>>12611114
You forgot that its also a movie that uses the word fuck like an 11 year old that just discovered it and thus wants to insert it in every sentence possible. There's a reason people call the movie "Death of a Fuckin' Salesman"
>>
>>12608883
the motherfucker elevator with the forklift, holy shit, yes
>>
I tried it without a guide and got pissed off.
When I finally used a guide it seemed so complicated I said fuck it!
Beautiful game though.
