Explain why you don't use smooth filters.

Because there is a difference between "the crt blended pixels together" and "i smeared Vaseline all over my screen"

It looks bad.
>>
>>12611414
because I'd rather use a CRT filter that blends the pixels how they'd be on an actual TV than use this filter which just makes it look like dogshit and not at all like how they were meant to be experienced
>>
>>12611414
because that's not how the game ever looked, not even on a CRT.

Just use a CRT filter.

CRT vs Raw

Nobody demands Netflix add filters for scan lines or curvature watch Friends or Cheers as they did back in the 80s and 90s. Only video game players demand preservation of flaws in old technology.
>>
>>12611414
because it creates ugly artifacts.
>>
>>12612795
I bet this sounded funnier in your head

Simpsons get ruined by widescreen
>>

That's blurriness, not smoothing.
Different kinds of filters.

Looks pretty good, just how I remember it.

>/vr/ is better than /tv/
Exactly.
>>
But I do. My default GBA shaders in retroarch are sabr_hybrid_deposterize followed by dot. I get the best of both worlds: smoothing and lcd grid.
>>
>>12612824
Some time ago I saw a re-run of an old episode, they trimmed the top and bottom edge of the show instead of allowing black bars on the side, it looked awful, cramped, and heads were cut off for no reason.
>>
>>12611414
This is better than any try hard CRT filter.
>>

This meme wrecked filter fags and they never recovered since

Post 20 examples of try hard CRT filters.
I'll wait.
But, you won't, so concession accepted.

Your own pictures is why. That just looks like shit.
>>

Looks great. Lines are smooth. No detail is lost. Easy on the eyes. No off putting darkened image or blown out fake bloom.
>>
>>12611414
It looks like ass. Even photoshop users avoid that shit like the plague.
>It looks fine
It doesn't, you just have terminally shit taste
>>
>>12613004
What’s wrong with it?
>>
>>12611414
Even when I was a kid, that eagle sai2x shit looked terrible.

>>12612795
I do demand film grain in my old shows though.
>>
>>12613007
Nothing. People just use «It looks bad» as if it was an argument (it isn't).
>>
>>12612795
TV cucks are just absolutely powerless to do anything about it. Once they got away with editing the aspect ratios of shows like X-Files it was over.
>>
>>12613007
It tends to round things off and smooth them in awkward or unintended ways. I.e. the diamonds now lack hard corners. The filter lacks any way to distinguish when something should/shouldn't be smoothed or rounded and is applied universally. It's not as much a problem in your because screenshot because NES sprites are strong in contrast but detail can be lost or become ambigous, see the shy guy against the door.
Plus it's just fucking ugly.
>>
>>12611414
Smooth filter for smooth brains.
>>
>>12612795
i watch 4:3 dvds on my crt tho and yes it does look better

>you just have terminally shit taste

Because it lowers the perceived resolution of the game and destroys details.
>>
>>12613357
That’s not a real argument.
>>
>>12611414
I'm already smooth enough, baby.

holy larp, >>12611414 's filter is exactly how they looked on 90s consumer crts
>>
if you had a small fraction of a pixel artist in you, you would never use filters like these.
