Who had the better console during the 6th gen?SEGA or Nintendo?
>>12612083Sega was putting out the best games possible, thinking forwards with new features and firing on all cylinders pushing gaming forward.GameCube was decidedly extremely lazy and iterative. "Oh we have to make a sequel to this because uhmm the n64 had it." The lack of effort also spread to GBA where nintendos output was truly pathetic.
Certified Sega Simp here. Get fucking real, it’s the GameCube.
>>12612083Sega definitely, that 56k modem was legendary.
Dreamcast games are only C+ quality at best on GCN, PS2, and Xbox.
>>12612094Mario Sunshine, Double Dash, and Wind Waker may be lazy but Sega has no good answer for it. Heck Monkey Balls and F-Zero from Sega themselves is better than most Dreamcast
>>12612106But pso Evan has the saem freeze bug as it got an dc that's truly nintendo of apruvel gaem
>>12612083AI post
>>12612120Wind Waker and Sunshine both had tons effort but just questionable direction
>>12612094Yeah I’m so mad that Nintendo put out incredible sequels like Melee and TTYD! Fucking lazybones!
>>12612285This, those games had plenty of effort, but imo Nintendo was unprepared for the more demanding development cycles that came with sixth gen 3D graphics. They were used to N64 games having teams consisting of under 20 devs.
So many cubekiddies in this thread, jesus.
>>12612336Fuck off, Nigel.
how is this a fair comparisson when the D.C's lifespan only last for two years?
Objectively the Gamecube, at least in terms of power. In terms of the games themselves, they both have good games. The biggest knock on the DC library is that a lot of its good games are releases of Naomi titles.
The one that actually had a decent ass lifespan
Well if it isn't kids that grew up with a Gamecube
>>12612383>>12612631In two years Dreamcast had a better library than the Gamecube in its five years. Just compare the launch titles to begin with and learn something, children.
>>12612686This is a bit disingenuous. Yes the Dreamcast had an awesome day one launch lineup in North America, but that’s because it had launched in Japan a full year earlier.
>>12612686>Just compare the launch titles to begin with and learn something, children.GameCube>JP Launch: September 14, 2001>NA Launch: November 18, 2001Dreamcast>JP Launch: November 27, 1998>NA Launch: NA: September 9, 1999Wow, who would guess the Dreamcast with a whole year of game development in Japan under its belt could have a better American launch line up than the GameCube which released in America only a month after it released in Japan.
>>12612730>released the dreamcast early in Japan where the Saturn was strong>released the dreamcast late in America where the Saturn wasn't selling at allWhy did Sega hate money?
>>12612383This.
>>12612746To be fair, it was standard practice for a console to come out a year earlier in Japan compared to the US, up until the 6th gen really got started.
>>12612383>>12612779The lifespan of the consoles doesn't matter in this case. Melee came out in the first year of the Gamecube's life and that game moggs the Dreamcast's library all by itself.
>>12612803lol no
>>12612730compare the 2 years of Dreamcast to 5 of Gamecube now, go on and do it
>>12612094>The lack of effort also spread to GBA where nintendos output was truly pathetic. Not true. The GBA library is better than the Gamecube.
>>12612083Look at that Dreamcast. Feisty lil thang. Meanwhile on the right - some mini fridge.
>>12612862>shovelware and worse versions of snes gamesNo
>>12612873>Mother 3>Minish cap>Zero Mission and Fusion>Aria of Sorrow>Wario Land 4>Wario Ware>Ninja Five-O>Advance Wars 2>Medal of Honor Infiltrator>Fire Emblem>Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance >Mega Man Zero 3>shovelwarenigguh please
>>12612882For every good game, there's like 50 licensed shovelware games
>>12612883And 20 of those 50 likely constitute a better catalog than the Gamecube's
>>12612083If the Dreamcast had been around for the entirety if the sixth gen, it would've had the better library no contest.
>>12612803Melee is put on a pedastal by people who only had a GameCube and no other consoles. Same with soul calibur 2. If you had a Sega or Sony console or hell even an Xbox you had a decent line up of fighting games available. Enough to mog the hell out of a pretty basic party game like smash.
True Chads, like myself, owned, or at least respected, all the consoles and appreciated each of them for their unique libraries. Consolewarring is feminine behavior.
>>12612938Based, /v/'s anti console war rule should apply to /vr/
>>12612883That's N64 kid logic. The ratio of good games to shovelware is meaningless. The number and quality of the good games is what matters.
>>12612083Both fucked up tremendously by not having two identical analog sticks. Still they were extremely soulful.
>>12612910Wrong.
>>12612857>compare the 2 years of Dreamcast to 5 of Gamecube now, go on and do itThat only works in your head when in reality the vast majority of the world prefers the GameCube. If you want to imagine what a hypothetical future Dreamcast Library would have looked like, just look at all the new Sega games released on GameCube.
>>12612083I own more Dreamcast games than Gamecube. So I guess Sega does, even though I love both consoles.
>>12612686Props to you having Pen Pen Triicelon in your collection. I have that too!!! And yes, Dreamcast certainly had a better library.
>>12612992Dont fucking care, compare the libraries. Fucking cubekiddie.
>>12612083>quality vs sloptendies cant comprehend this
>>12612992>majority of the world prefers the GameCubeyou mean y2k aesthetic gen z larpers on instagram? people like the gamecube bc its a gamecube, not bc its good
