Toy Story Retro Round-Up
https://youtu.be/Kgp9iOHxrFw
Includes:
-Toy Story (SNES, Genesis & GB)
-Toy Story 2 (PS1 & GBC)
-Buzz Lightyear of Star Command (PS1 & GBC)
-Toy Story Racer (PS1 & GBC)

notRetro but they're also remastering the 7th gen version of Toy Story 3 for modern systems (PC only had the PS2/Wii Version afaik).

I'm Buzz Lightyear SPACE RANGER, universeprotectionunit.
>>
The first thing I noticed was the poor edging on Woody.

NO TIME TO LOSE!

>poor edging on Woody
sounds like a rough night

>not retro
so don't post it

Easy to beat, but only if you cheat.

Not that they're entirely necessary but I wonder why retro collections avoid the N64 versions of these games like the fucking plague. It's especially odd when you can tell the goal is to be as comprehensive of a collection as possible, like for example the Mortal Kombat Legacy collection which went so far as to even include the redundant Sega 32X version of Mortal Kombat 2, but then of course they didn't include the N64 versions of Trilogy, 4 or Mythologies. I'm just kind of sick of seeing N64 be forgotten about.
>>
>>12615463
Honestly it sounds like Nintendo's licensing bullshit which they are known for.
That being said, in this case I'm not too bothered because the N64 version is probably the worst version of Toy Story 2. All it does is add the pointless distance fog which makes the interior levels look like they're filled with some noxious gas, and swaps the first level music with the main theme, which doesn't fit the action gameplay.

>PC only had the PS2/Wii Version afaik
PC had a Wii version, which is downgraded PS3 360 version
PS2 and PSP version is a completely different game
>>
>>12615510
If that was true then the snes and gameboy games wouldn't be here and other collections wouldn't have games on Nintendo consoles either. Has to be some other reason.
>>
>>12615510
No the Dreamcast version is the worst. Mainly due to them fucking up the analog controls.
>>
>>12615397
Toy Story is impossible to beat unless you cheat. The frustrating play control is alleviated somewhat by the great play control. Bottom line, unlike Crash Bandicoot 2, Toy Story has much better gameplay than DKC1 and 2.

>-Toy Story (SNES, Genesis & GB)
You know, I think I realize what I don't like about this recent wave of collections. They have access to the source code (Jon Burton made it clear he retained it): they can really make the ultimate versions of these games if they wanted to, instead of giving us emulation packages. I mean, take that Aladdin "Director's Cut": they made alterations to the game! Which...mostly amounted to alternative 1-up paths for zoomers. Meh. Oh lookie here, Bubsy 3D got "fixed"! But...not really, it's arguably worse. Oh wait, Rayman has a definitive edition! Maybe they'll finally combine the best parts of the consols/PC versiona into one experience!...nah it's just another PS1 suckoff with zoomer emulation options. Mehs all around...
Hey, y'know what, Burton? Please petition Sega to rerelease Sonic 3D Blast. Tell them you can outdo your officially unofficial "Director's Cut" for the Genesis version if you can work with the Saturn version!
>>
>>12615938
The european mega drive version has a password system (you get a code every 4 levels).
>>12615463
I assume a custom N64 emulator is more difficult to have than a PS1 emulator for these collections, Digital Eclipse's emulators are usually very shoddy too so I can only imagine how awful an N64 emulator by them could be.
>>
>>12615845
At least the music in those is different.
>>
>>12615463
99% of these retro collections are just running emulators, and N64 just happens to have the literal worse emulation out of the retro consoles that exist.
>>
>>12615845
There's just no reason to include the N64 versions as they're usually watered down ports of the PS1 originals. At least Game Boy versions are interesting and for games like Toy Story 1 there's some different content between the Genesis and SNES versions.
Toy Story 2 on N64 is pretty much identical to PS1 except everything's blurrier and there's no FMV cutscenes.
>>
toy story racer is actually pretty fun but getting all the green soldiers is a complete pain in the ass.
>>
>>12615114
Why A Bug's Life? Might as well include the Monsters Inc PS1 game too
>>
>>12616151
I like that you brought that up

https://www.youtube.com/@ConsoleWars/videos

Because this show Console Wars really showed me the unique differences between ports. In some cases, if they combined aspects of the SNES and Genesis versions, they could produce an ultimate version. The one that stood out to me is the Pagemaster surprisingly, as there's no PC or Sega CD version that combines all their unique differences.
>>
>>12617338
obviously saving it for a monsters inc collection (it actually got a few games iirc)
>>
>>12617338
There is no chance of Bug's Life getting it's own thing.
>>
>>12617338
it was made by Traveler's Tales, like all the other non-GB games. Monsters Inc wasn't
>>
>>12617345
Makes sense.

>>12617375
In this day and age when nostalgia-pandering is most sure-fire way to generated profits I'm sure Disney/Pixar will think of something.

>>12617987
So does that mean Sonic R should be included too?
>>
>>12617345
>Monsters Inc Scream Team/Scare Island (PS1/PS2)
>Monsters Inc. (GBC)
>Monsters Inc. (GBA)
>Monsters Inc. (PS2)
>Monsters Inc. Scream Arena (Gamecube)
And probably they'll throw the Finding Nemo games (the home and handheld version) as a "bonus".
>>
>>12615114
Nice.
>7th gen version of Toy Story 3
This was genuinely a great game, by the way.
>>
>>12618456
Retard.
