They had some dark days, but at least during the retro times, and certainly the true retro times, they had some of the most consistently strong output of any developer, across all platforms. Probably once of their biggest stumbling blocks was the early NES days when they outsourced arcade port development to Micronics, which produced what were basically the worst games to bear the Capcom name (obviously they realized this and wound up moving more FC development in house, to great success).
