I finally finished this after nine years of repeating the process of coming back to it, getting frustrated with the level design and dropping it multiple times. I can finally rest.
Despite its charm, this is a game with painful moments. I played it through the Xbox 360 port on my Series X so I can imagine the camera was even worse in the original, but it was still really dreadful here at times. Nowhere near as bad as the camera in Mario 64, though.
The final boss was very similar to the final boss of the original Ratchet and Clank; clunky, annoying and LONG.
Overall, I don't think this was as good as Mario 64.
Now for the big question: do I
>A) play Donkey Kong 64
>B) delve into the PlayStation collectathons such as Gex and Spyro (I've already played quite a bit of Spyro 1 and it's not too shabby), or
C) just fast forward to when collectathons got good again and play A Hat in Time or something like that next?
>Thanks for the blog post
I literally had nobody else to talk about this with. Cut me some slack.
>Play Tooie
Not even Saul Goodman could convince me to do that right now.

Recommend three with diverse styles from each other.

3D was new at the time.

Devs were learning how to make these games and players were learning how to navigate them.

Easy to criticise it from 25 years in the future.

If you struggled with kazooie dk64 or tooie are likely to make you bang your head against a wall in rage. Both are Rare going: "what if we took kazooie and made it 10 times bigger?" just in different ways.
>>
Nah it was great
Played it this year for the first time (with an n64 controller) and had a blast, got 100% relatively quickly, only needed a guide to get a few life upgrades because everything else was intuitive. I agree the last boss is too long, I HAD to get all the life upgrades before I was able to beat her.

Only question I have is how did rare completely fuck up the controls and camera in DK64 when they had nailed it here.

I suggest you either do DK64 or Tooie right away. I did a collectathon marathon in 2023 where I played Tooie, into Kazooie, into DK64, into Vexx, and finally into Conker where I stopped there after two hours I was satisfied.

If you find Banjo Kazzooie frustrating, can't get along with the level design, controls and camera, you should just stop. Those games are not for people like you.

>Nowhere near as bad as the camera in Mario 64
On my average playthrough I only adjust the camera maybe 5 times in total and don't even notice it. Stop trying to play those games as if they would be modern third person shooters. The 3d stick allows you to move in any direction, no matter what the position of the camera is.

If you can't enjoy a masterpiece like Banjo Kazzooie, you will absolutely hate Donkey Kong 64, because that game is actually janky. Just play your Gears of War, Halo or whatever else you normally play.

you sound like a fucking retarded faggot. And you played the dumbed down remaster and STILL cry that it was too hard and that you fucking suck.

If Kazooie filtered you, Tooie and DK64 will make you rip your hair out.

Go play a collectathon for baby retards like Jak & Daxter or AHiT

No, it's imaginary.

You are a fucking brown retard who got filtered by a game aimed at children, now it's time for games aimed at toddlers. Accept it anon.

I don't. Lakitu is a fucking troll. He especially gets retarded when I'm trying to pole vault or do something next to a wall.
