Just got a Gamecube today at a garage sale. I didn't grow up with one, nether did any of my friends. Zero experience. What are some must have games?
btw, you wont believe what i got today with the gamecube for 50 bucks.
>>
>>12618302
For 50 dollars I scored the silver game cube, two memory cards, two ddr dance pad things...one being a pink mad catz, the other a official dance pad for the ddr mario game, plus theddr mario gamecube game, madcatz controller, and a guitar hero x-plorer xbox controller.
>>
>>12618303
Those guitars are hard to find and getting pricey. Nice.

Battalion Wars is a cool exclusive and usually not very expensive because there's no Mario characters.

Geist
Luigi's Mansion
Baten Kaitos: Origins
Mario Party 5
Pokemon Colosseum
Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
Wario World
Wave Race: Blue Storm
>>
>>12618356
Mario Kart - Double Dash
F-Zero GX
Super Mario Sunshine
Super Mario Strikers
Wave Race BlueStorm
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
>>
For me as always:
F-Zero GX is mandatory
Pikmin is great
Killer7
Super Monkey Ball 1, 2
Resident Evil 1, 4
>>
>>12618302
Is it a DOL-001 or DOL-101?
The DOL-101 is the downward revision later model, which only has composite-out. The original model, DOL-001, also has a digital video output that was intended for N's component cable, but now can also be used with HDMI adapters like Retro-Bit Prism and the Carby..
>>
>>12618302
You could've just bought a Wii, you know?
>>
>>12618317
>Battalion Wars
man i wanted to like this game so badly, but the controls were absolute aids and for some reason it made me extremely depressed. something about the art style in that game is fucked.
>>
>>12618302
F-Zero GX
Eternal Darkness
Super Monkey Ball
Metroid Prime
1080 Avalanche
Resident Evil 4
Mortal Kombat Dead Alliance or Deception
Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker

There are a lot more good Gamecube games. Deeply underrated system by most people.
>>
>>12618302
Here's a list of must have games on it anon:
>>
>>12618458
>only has composite-out
No, it supports s video as well, they both use the same jack. This is slightly worse than conponent though as it is still an analog signal, but its much much better than composite
>>
>>12618881
>conponent
Component*

To reiterate, one more time to make this clear, the 101 supports composite AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, s video

The og 001 supports both of those but also component
>>
>>12618302
GameCube is unironically a great system if you're willing to branch out of your comfort zone as far as genres go. Besides the usual top-listers (Melee, Paper Mario, Pikmin, Zelda, etc etc), I think it also really shines with its experimental games. Here are some I've really enjoyed, some are more known, some lesser:
>killer7
>cubivore
>doshin the giant
>chibi robo
>custom robo
>baten kaitos duology (just rereleased on steam)
For context, I grew up with only a GameCube. I was diehard Nintendo fanboy so growing up I thought it was great but was obviously biased. When I branched out and after realizing how limited its library was I was down on it. But rediscovering it through emulation years later has allowed me to appreciate its library for what it is.

>>12618302
Definitely get a Gameboy Player for it if you can. Now the only question is WHERE THE FUCK do you get a flippy drive?

That was a great deal you got. The Mario game if it’s sunshine u got is worth 50 on its own. Nice job anon
>>
>>12619646
mp sucks
>>
>>12618458
it is a DOL-101

>>12618619
I have a wii, unfortunately its not the model that can play gamecube games.

>>12618890
Cool, i'm not opposed to getting out of my comfort zone. I kinda just want to buy a few standard must haves then just buy some random games as well and take a stab in the dark

>>12619634
flippy drive?

>>12619727
I know, I couldnt believe it. I had no clue what the other stuff was worth but i knew the gamecube alone was worth more then 50 so I had to get it, drove over at like 6am still drunk as fuck from the night before.
Its just a complete copy of ddr mario mix.
>>
>>12619786
>flippy drive?
It's an anagram for "googleittard"
>>
>>12619786
>DOL-101
How unfortunate. Can't use the HDMI converters.

I don't. You talk like a retard.

Very nice. Look into getting the Gameboy player, as that was there with the system in a dark time of my life when I quit video games for the 2nd time. There was a lot of cheap GBA games, which carried me through with the Gameboy player back then.
>>
>>12620443
How was the transition?
>>
>>12620443
ah okay i assume thats kinda like the thing where you could play gameboy games on the super nintendo?
>>
>>12620561
holy fuck..okay its like 15thats way 0 for th disc alone then another 50 for the adaptor....pretty neat but no way can i afford that....it is kinda cool you can play basic gameboy games, color, to advanced.
What other hellscape adaptors are there?, i did notice since mine is a 101 is doesnt have one of the ports available underneqth
>>
>>12620161
It's good but it's not THAT good
>>
>>12620581
You can boot the gba player disc through homebrew, don't buy that shit. There's also GCI which is a lot better than the normal gba player's software https://consolemods.org/wiki/GameCube:GameBoy_Interface
>>
>>12620581
https://nintendo.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_GameCube_accessories
The Game Boy Player is the only highly significant thing in the list. There were adapters that let the HellScape go online, but few games used them. There were a few specialized controllers for rhythm games, a microphone for Odama... nothing nearly as interesting as the Game Boy Player.
>>
>>12620595
That was just the GC version of the Super Game Boy that SNES had, right?
>>
>>12619786
>unfortunately its not the model that can play gamecube games
Every Wii can play GameCube games off a USB, look up Nintendont
>>
>>12622657
Yeah and every 3ds can play ps1 games (the original can very poorly)
>>
>>12618302
Yeah, the Gamecube has an epic library, with a touch of awesomesauce
>>
>>12622681
I don't understand the analogy. The Wii hardware is 100% binary compatible with GameCube software, even Wiis without the GameCube controller ports.

Figured I had to start focusing less on video games since I had no money, so quitting for the 2nd time had to be made. That's why the Gameboy Player was there, being part of a cheap bundle, it was easy to hunt down lots of $5USD or less used GBA games to keep me somewhat into video games even having quit. It was more ultra-cheap games that got me back into video games again with the 360, at a sort of not-caring at first attitude. I did quit 2 more times since, as my financial situation has not improved all these years.

>>12620561
It is exactly that for the Gamecube. It extends the library to a lot of amazing games. You only need the adapter, as you can replace the disc with something even better in Game Boy Interface, bootable through Swiss or Action Replay. When I was getting them, they were in junk bins for like $1-$5USD each as they were missing the more expensive disc which completes the package is now no longer needed.
>>
>>12622962
You didn't quit games. You just started only buying cheap used games. Quitting involves actually stopping doing something, not only doing something when it's $5
>>
>>12618349
>Kururin Squash
If it's anything like Kurukuru Kururin for the GBA, I'm swerving into the oncoming lane to avoid this
>>
>>12618303
>>12618302
You could have just bought a used Wii for $20 bucks, modded it, and bought a cheap Wii2HDMI adapter.
>>
>>12623059
this boner owns a strip light and i just realized it
>>
>>12619634
>>12620443
Came into the thread to ask if the Gameboy player was worth it. I have a DS Lite for GBA games, but playing them on the TV with a Gamecube controller sound comfy. Saw a few on eBay going for ~$50, worth?
I happen to have the DOL-001 model, found that out recently. Worth dropping $80 for a Carby or Prism? Seems expensive for just the higher quality video.
