But this was the start of a dark period where quality RPGs were pretty much non-existent on Nintendo platforms. It got better with the Gamecube onward, but the N64 was pretty much sans-RPGs (except Nintendo's efforts with Paper Mario and some other minor offerings).

whats the best way to play 7 and 8? the digital versions online seem to have shitty filters over the backgrounds that you can't disable.

>>12622291original on ps1 w/crt or original ps1 on PC w/ psx emulator. Steam ports are ok if you dl all the required fixes first (like 7th heaven manager for ff7). Do not recommend playing ff7 on ps4/switch version, it has a ton of music bugs that kill the vibe, and the speed up and enemy disable features are too tempting to not abuse. Not to mention you have upgraded 3d models but blurry backgrounds that mesh poorly
