What are your thoughts on Donkey Kong Jr? It's always strange picking up a retro Mario game and seeing this guy on the roster.

my opinion is that they should have had him grow into rare dk. even if cranky was always intended to be his grandpa, make it the unusual soulful retcon. better use of the character then him being assumed dead and randomly showing up in mario tennis switch.
DK Jr was one of my favorite games growing up, I liked it more than DK1.So to me it's always joyful when he appears

Real supportive and proud of his son, reminiscing on his own past like an athlete who peaked in high-school but never really took off in success beyond that.
