Aged like milk.

>Artstyle/graphics look ancient
>Bizarre tank controls
>Takes forever to kill anyone
>AI is either braindead or impossible to beat
>>
>>12624189
still the best TM
>>
>>12624189
Correct, people only like it because muh edge.

Vigilante 8 games, SW battlefront, small brawl and the two ps2 twisted metals shit all over TM2
>>
learn the button combos for the ice attack and the shield, you can't win without these on normal or higher
>>
aged like wine
>gritty, realistic artstyle
>arcade controls that prioritize fun (turning without moving forward)
>reasonable TTK with select few powerhouses (grimm, power missile, napalm, remote det)
>AI is predictable but annoying in open spaces with no cover
truly a fun game, thanks for the reminder OP

LMAO what do you want a car to behave like?
>>
>>12624189
>>Takes forever to kill anyone
I can understand the other complaints, but this is just factually incorrect. Are you just exclusively using the regular missiles?
>>
>>12624189
rotating in place is probably a justifiable contrivance but yeah outside of that I don't find the driving enjoyable at all, which is a problem in a driving game.
>>
>>12624292
yeah this nigga never played as thumper
he can freeze+special and two shot kill like 75% of the enemies
>>
>>12624189
Wish it'd get a remake. This was the best Calypso. Twister, Outlaw and Grasshopper were top tier as well.

Aged like wine if you put it into perspective
>>
>>12624751
TM2 has the best roster among all car combat games easily
>>

>Aged like milk
Some powdered milk can last for as long as twenty five years.

Stopped reading right there
Go back to /v/
>>
>is complete and utter-fucking-dogshit
>it has "realistic fizzicks" so that makes it good now
3 & 4 enjoyers are literally subhuman, surely we can all agree on that trvke
>>
>>12625078
No one enjoys 3 or 4
>>
>>12625146
3 and 4 have plenty of people who recall either of them as their first TM game. They also usually struggle with 2 due to how difficult it gets.
>>
>>12625157
3 and 4 are way harder and more full of bullshit than 2 though, specially 4
>>
>>12625078
>>12625146
Gameplay wise I'm kind of indifferent, but 4 felt weirder than the previous ones to me and that's something that stuck with me.
The cutscenes with the midget clowns in the circus tent. Pizza Boy, and other goofy shit.
And then they contrasted it with Black being so dark.
I'd have to go back and play it but I remember 4 being decent enough.
>>
>>12625146
>>12625157
Never played 3, but I liked 4. Nowhere near as much as 2, but I liked the final carnival level and some of the roster. Sweet Tooth taking Calypso's place was neat.

For me it's 2 >>> Small Brawl > 4

You could at least put the PSX version which is actually decent

I don't have screenshots past the rooftop stage because that's where I got filtered last time

>muh edge.
Is it edgier than Twisted Metal Black?
>>
>>12625520
Not even close. None of the character stories are edgy. Sweet Tooth, the most edgy character in all the games, wishes to be turned into a bug.
>>
>>12625520
TM2 isn't even edgy at all. It's comic book goofy. TMB is way way waaaaay darker.
>>
>>12625587
>>12625590
Kek I'm watching Sweet Tooth cutscenes and this is darker and edgier than Manhunt and Postal combined. Very strange for a driving game.
>>
>>12625619
TMB definitely went an interesting direction. Some of the characters have an interesting story, but they are all extremely edgy. Grimm, Sweet Tooth, Doll Face and Roadkill all stand out as some of the more interesting ones.
>>
>>12624189
TM2 has a lot of issues and I genuinely think it's worse than 1 it still is better than most of the other titles. Head-On was where it was at dog, it was easily the best game in the series and basically fixed every issue I had with 2.
>>
>>12624189
2 will always be fondly remembered because it felt like a massive upgrade over 1 at least on the surface
>>
Vigilante 8 was the better car combat game
>>
>>12625146
I had very fond memories of 3 as it was my first experience and it was over at a friends house. I personally ended up with small brawl and Black down the line.

Eventually circled around back and replayed most of them on an emulator and did not like 3 or 4 at all. The early CGI of 3 is kino though.
>>
>>12626246
This, as a zoomer i emulated both the same day and I don't know how can anyone prefer TM
>>
>>12626246
Poor man's Interstate 76. TM2 mogs in every category.
>>
>>12626246
V8 feels too floaty, like the physics are fighting your attempt to drive.

I really like the idea of how it uses weapons in combos but I feel like it's not intuitive without the manual or being told what to do. It's fun to watch someone who knows how to play it combo shit together.
>>
>>12627885
Driving feels so much better in V8 than in any ps1 twisted metal except for Small Beawl which has good physics because the V8 devs worked on it

>Takes forever to kill anyone

If you're battling the AI, yes. Multiplayer head to head, skill issue. You have to amass your ammo and wait for your specials to generate.

>AI is either braindead or impossible to beat

One opponent at a time. I've never been fired upon by multiple AI controlled enemies simultaneously. In Black yes, but not head-on extra twisted.

Not retro, but I recommend Extra Twisted Head-On as it's the REAL TM3.
>>
>>12624198
>SW Battlefront
Hey no games zoomie, you’re naming the wrong game and that game sucks anyway lol

the game designer that worked on a lot of those old games (V8, Small Brawl, Demolition) has a youtube channel. On some of his livestreams he has joked about hating Demolition but I never got him to go into any detail (yet)
>>
>>12625310
3 and 4 were made by some inhouse Sony company and not the original team, so Black was made by the original team to kinda wrestle back the series away from 989 Studios after the dispute with GT Interactive because they made the games way too retarded.
>>
>>12627885
>V8 feels too floaty, like the physics are fighting your attempt to drive.

I agree, but I think it's more because V8 and second offense were meant to be played with analog controllers. Using the d-pad doesn't navigate your vehicle to extremes, but d-pad navigation doesn't appear to respond as much to pressure.
>>
>>12628118
>21 years old
its retro enough
