How can I get my home emulation set-up audio closer to the kind of hollow and slightly distorted sound that comes out of an arcade cabinet?
Hesuvi kind of sounds like this actually with a few of the presets

>>12624498Got a wooden dresser near your PC? Put the speakers inside.
>>12624498Embrace mono, and attach that one speaker to the inside of an oddly-shaped wooden box.
>>12626507and don't forget to smoke 6 packs per day around it until the tar partially clogs the slits
>>12624498You could get a shit speaker and make poorly designed enclosure for it. Small driver, way too much air, probably still use a hi pass filter because modern speakers will be too good at pushing low frequencies.

My new idea for the "arcade cube". it contains -a 6" mono speaker -a nintendo style coin mechanism -a coin bucket -a small form factor pc or fpga device -a small amp for the speaker -a power strip -an i/o panel for the pc audio and video -adjustable feet The cube is sized just right in height for a person to sit an arcade stick controller on top of the box and have it be around the height of the control panels on most sit-down arcade cabinets. Or you can sit a CRT or other monitor on top of it. I think with a plywood case the 6" speaker should sound very authentic. I think I can build this for about $300, maybe...
