You'd think the point would be to create levels that take advantage of his flying ability, but no, every time the flying would be useful and you press the fly button the game is like "Here is wind that only appears if you fly and that prevents you from doing anything; also have some ceiling spikes. The wind isn't always in the same direction, it can also prevent to go any other direction would the game feel like it. And the game uses it a LOT.

It's a decent MetroidVania that used the flying in a good way, it didn't feel like cheating, but still came in handy.

they could simply have blocked the path by a 'door' or something similar and have the small robot press a button or push a rock to open the path.

Letting the player explore with the flying is much more fun; besides the game already had a mechanic that naturally restrains flying: fly time gets longer and longer as you collect the emeralds. They could have used this to make sure the player can't 'cheat' fly everywhere but then let him explore and come back to the level and take shortcuts once he's found more emeralds.
But nope, just blowing shitty wind up your ass in almost every level.

Why is this such a thing where people sperg out on a specific thing in an old game and assume they must know better decades later? Not just this game, its always "I would have done better" bullshit from people who haven't made a single game on the platform.
