Part of growing up means realizing this game is bad.
Maybe you are growing up wrong
>>12626858the core idea is sound, having to puzzle out enemy patterns with simon's fixed jump arc works, it's memorable. I would hesitate to call a game flatly bad when the core of it works.
I didn't appreciate this game until I was in my 30s however. The difficulty curve is perfect and the movement limitations are used creatively with enemies to create puzzle-like challenges on each screen.
>>12626858By todays standards, yes.
>>12626858Let me guess. Filtered by Frankenstein?

>>12626858It's better than literally anything that had been released on home consoles at that point. The only games to even come close were Ghost Goblins and Fantasy Zone.
good game bad (by today's standards of course (what are todays standards? i don't know))
>>12627805Take a moment to consider: bad good
>>12627847Yes, there are 2 subgenres. Bad, but good; typically a bad game which is good. Or alternatively, good but bad; typically a good game which is actually bad. Now this doesn't mean games which are considered to be bad, but actually are good and vice versa, but rather games which possess both qualities of good and bad.
