I'll start with the Neo Geo CD control pad. Everything's fine but the thumbstick; there's so much travel between "clicks" that it impacts reaction times. It's raised enough that your thumb cramps over time from the angle. This was less of an issue for Neo Geo Pocket because the contact points were closer together.
>>12632081Forgot post lol. PC Engine, beautiful awesome console, shit controller. NES but somehow an even worse d-pad. Some of it's that consoles were, at this time, designed mainly for children. So the d-pad & buttons are sized for the thumbs of a tiny Japanese boy.
Jaguar controller gets a bad rap because it looks unccomfortable, and is assumed to be, by people who never held one. It's actually very comfortable & ergonomic, except for the mushy d-pad on the OG 3-button. The pro mostly fixes this, also adding shoulder buttons. The number pad gets clowned on but was genuinely useful in complex games.
The Japanese Sega Saturn controller is absolute perfection, unsurpassed before or since. Only Sega perfected d-pads. Clicky shoulder buttons, ergonomic shape, improvement on this ideal is impossible.

>>12632075Love how the buttons feel and sound on this bad boy. The L and R buttons have this mechanical keyboard feel that's just so fucking good. The D-pad is incredible too. I'm not a fan of symmetrical sticks, so for more modern games I'll use the Switch Pro Controller, even though it has a lot (A FUCKING LOT, this thing paired with a Wiimote has virtually no lag on a Wii, like 1ms or less) more input lag. But everything else about this controller is just incredible. My favorite Nintendo controller of all time, better than the SNES controller, in my opinion.
