Were these games as good as I remember them being?
>>12633815I played Turok 2 to death but struggled with it so much. It's good in my memory but any time I think about playing it again there's a pain response and I don't want to subject myself to the multiple hours between save points and cryptic maps, and I would never recommend it to someone else as a good game.
>>12633815The first two are really really good.
>>12633815Better gameplay than tomb raider but also somehow far less compelling
>>12633815very confusing level design as a kidvery straightforward as an adult
>>12633820I haven't played them yet but its likely the remasters address a lot of the issues you are describing here. They are at the very least much faster pace games.
>>12633815You'd have to be insane to play the originals over the Nightdive remasters. They took a foggy mess that runs at 10fps and turned it into an actually playable game.
>>12634152CRT tv eliminates all fog and runs the game at 10000hz
Nightdive did amazing remasters of Turok, Turok 2 and ShadowmanIt's a shame these games suck fucking cock.
>>12633815Originals = straight up garbageNightdive remasters = okay boomer shooters, though nowhere as great as the modern indies like Dusk or Hrot
>>12633815No, they were shit even then. The lack of draw distance makes the game impossible to play.
Only zoomers and younger would shun the originals.
I remember buying Turok 2 for a couple bucks at a thrift store, playing it on and off for a summer, and having a great time. You’re gonna have a lot of fags in this thread saying muh controls and muh visuals are bad. They have no business being on this board.PC ports are good but they make the games too easy. They have a higher difficulty setting but it just makes all the enemies bullet sponges which is actually more tedious that just playing on a trident controller.
>>12633815Yes, the first two at least were great.
>>12635145oh I forgot. protip: on turok 2 and 3 go into the settings and turn hi-res mode off. its automatically enabled if you have an expansion pack but it kills the framerate. turn it off and the game runs just fine.
>>126338151 is really good, but I could see people thinking it's tedious. I liked the atmosphere of the game, but there is a noticeable lack of dinosaurs that you hunt. I think only one of the 4 bosses is a dinosaur. The second game is neat, but man the levels are massive, teleporting labyrinths that feel like they go on forever. I still haven't beaten it. There are so many stages I just can't find where to go. I hated it coming to it right after Turok 1, but now after letting it settle, I think I love how the game feels. It's easy to lose yourself in the game.
>>12633815How am I supposed to know how good you remember them being, fuck-stupid retard?
>>12633820No fog, so now I am not running in circles forever. As someone who shares your pain it is far better then it was. Also, tab for the map (and reticle).
>>12633815Turok 2, Hive of the Mantids was one of the grossest levels I've ever played in any game, but somehow it was also the best level in the game.
>>12633815The movement and guns feel great in these games but the level design (especially in 2) can be really tedious.I still enjoy them though
Another series to add to the list of series it's now impossible to discuss because of shitty mememasters
>>12635514Yeah, fuck Nightdive for fixing the controls and draw distance. Fucking vultures.
>>12635514Nothing was taken from you thoughtbhdesubeit
>>12633815The originals aren't very good but Nightdive fixed them. The Nightdive remasters are incredible shooters.
Ngl I feel like an absolute chad for having beaten Turok 2 on original hardware. I did have to look up some of the last few key items to get 100% thoughbeit.
>>12633815I've only played Evolution and it's bretty gud. I like that Tal'Set is strongarmed into becoming a hero by Tarkeen.
>>12635514Here, something that might tickle your fancy.
>>12635514Can't you play with the fog and framerate restored? I could have swore there is an option to turn on both. Although I am not sure why you would want to play like that.
>>12636298Getting big Painkiller reboot vibes from this.
>>12636298It's problematic that the game still has native americans. I thought they were canceled years ago.
>>12635594in that anon's defense, they dumbed down some level designs for casuals, for example the second key in the first level is right in front of you in the remaster while it was in a semi-hidden alcove on the original, the hidden auto shotgun near the same room also changed location as a result
>>12636675On the other hand you would get things in the OG game one switch being tucked away behind the corner of an alleyway that already looked like somewhere you couldn't go. So chances were good you would sneak a peak, see absolutely nothing, and then just brush the place off as a dead end.
>>12633815I watched a speed run of Turok 63 and the runner explained all the broken shit in that game and I get dizzy thinking about it. I don't remember if I owned it but I played the hell out of it as a kid. The game is also far larger than I remembered.
>>12633908Turok 2 is still a mess
I hate how you can't kill the disgusting "Mother" boss.I hate how the Nuke weapon is not even good.I hate the cliffhanger ending.Plus every other criticism you guys already pointed out.The weapons and death animations carry this game HARD. You just want to test every single death animation on every enemy until the end.
>>12633815turok 1 owns
>>12633815The first game makes me imagine the smell of bromine water, like a theme park.
>>12636298The more gameplay that comes out for this it looks alright. For modern day gaming standards at least.
