Someone just left this 36 inch CRT at the end of their driveway for anyone to take. So I did. Was this a good find?I'm new to the whole CRT thing.

>>
Yes, it is theoretically an excellent find. But you need to do your due diligence on it now. Check all around it for roach and bedbug droppings, and if you're confident around electronics I'd unplug it and screw off the back and take a look around looking for pests like roach or bedbug droppings. Don't touch anything! Just look around with a plastic flashlight. Or at least shine a flashlight through the grills on the back of the CRT.

If it's pest free, turns on, and has a stable image it's a top tier CRT find.

>free
>has all the inputs
>36
yeah its fine
>A remote control is required to change video inputs
oof
>>
>>12634839
its a curve screen and has component hookup so its excellent
>>
>>12634870
Thankfully the remote was ducktaped to it
>>
>>12634839
Where are you and why are you wearing a skirt?
>>
>>12634870
It's an RCA television so just about any random universal remote can be programmed to work with it.
>>
>>12634886
The pic isn't mine, just used it since I haven't taken my own pic yet
>>
>>12634839
Eh, I guess?
Personally I prefer smaller CRTs. Twelve inches is the perfect size.
>>
>>12634839
These kinds of large curved screens with component are pretty rare, good score op. Plug it in and turn it on and connect a game system to it.
>>
>>12634869
I left the ones I found in a hot car for a couple of weeks and then turned it on outside. For the first few minutes I listen for any weird noises.
>>
getting component is good but big tvs are usually the types that are just given away for free on marketplace. not bad for the tv but not really crazy as a find.
>>
>>12634839
36 inch is fucking massive but if you're happy with it then that's all that matters. For me personally, the cut off point is 19 to 20 inches.
>>
>>12634839
What a strange looking driveway.
>>
>Launched: 2000

lol

Autists on this board say it’s cope but I agree, 20” is the perfect size. This isn’t 2002, I don’t need a big ass CRT to be my main display, I just want one big enough to enjoy but small enough that it’s not dominating.
>>
>>12634839
I have a crt and grew up with them but my oled with crt filters simply looks better. there's honestly no reason to hold on to these anymore besides nostalgia and retro gamer virtue signaling.
>>
>>12635747
my wife says 4 inches is all she needs
>>
>>12636068
She sounds like a keeper anon, take good care of her.
>>
>>12634839
Id worry less about the tv and worry more about a haircut and hitting the gym
>>
>>12634886
Wouldn't you want to be a pretty girl?
>>
>>12636068
>I'm content with just the small screen of our fridge
>>
I'm in awe at the amount of tards ITT who don't realize that OP got the pic from the crtdatabase page.

>>12634839
Congrats. Post some pics once (if) you get it working and hooked up to something.
>>
>>12636151
Are you retarded or something?

Kek, what a loser

Nice catch - hope it does work...

It does :)

So quick update, the link I put in the OP isn't actually the same model TV I got, mines an F36649 and doesn't support component :(

Even without component this is still a very good CRT. 705 TVL is an excellent stat, and it has tinted picture tube.
To easily get the best picture out of this unit I recommend a hacked Wii or Gamecube running S-video. Those systems have excellent S-video output and native 240p.
>>
>>12634869
>bedbugs in a crt
good lord I never even thought of that
>>
>>12637029
Are there any good component to composite converters I could use, or should I just stick with S-Video?
>>
Dude what the fuck?! I left the TV there for my friend to pick up later, you just fucking stole it!!
>>
>>12637269
Wtf, then why were you just sitting there watching me take it?
>>
>>12637278
I couldn’t believe my eyes someone would just steal right infront of me. I then thought it was a prank and you’d come back with it later and we’d share a laugh.
I’ve tried to give you the benefit of the doubt, but you’ve destroyed any remaining faith I had in humanity. Fuck you, dude. Fuck you.
>>
>>12637226
You want a good component to s-video converter, not component to s-video. Yes, stick to s-video. S-video is higher quality than composite.
>>
>>12637480
Is it worth it to get a component to S-Video converter or should I just stick with S-Video even if it's worse than component?
>>
>>12637508
Nta but component really isn't that much better than s-video I wouldn't worry about it
>>
>>12637508
Your question is a bit odd. Let's break it down.
It seems to position two options:

>s-video derived by sending component video to a component to s-video converter
versus
>the native s-video output of a given device (most likely a video game console)

In most scenarios you'd see no visible difference between these two set-ups. However, if a console had notably bad s-video output you might see some marginal gains by taking RGB/Component from that console and converting it to S-video instead.

Trust me and other anons who tell you: S-video is truly *almost* as good as component.

RF to Composite: Massive upgrade
Composite to S-video: Major upgrade
S-video to Component: Very minor upgrade
Component to RGB: Point of diminishing returns, no real practical difference.

Crts are a meme

Nah I have the hair for it but the face and square shoulders ruin the illusion
>>
No matter what I do in the pcsx2 settings, I cannot get the picture to fit on the screen. There's always either bars or the picture gets squashed/cropped on bottom.
>>
>>12638914
They’re also pretty comfy with much better color

It's good
but I just wanna say the way the sound inputs are laid out is pretty goofy.
