After hearing for years on /vr/ that TimesSplitters mogs Halo, I decided to finally play it and was left confused. What the hell are you people even talking about?
>Aiming is done automatically
Absolute kek. It's even more aggressive than GoldenEye's autoaim because at least there it only works at close range; in TimeSplitters you are aimbotting even at long distances. Is this what you guys are talking about when you say TimeSplitters is better than Halo?
>Weapon pickups are annoying
You enjoy Gun A. You have Gun B in your inventory, but don't want to use it. You want to keep using Gun A. You use Gun A to shoot an enemy dead. All is well, right? NOPE! The guy you killed was wielding Gun B, which the programmer deemed "superior" (completely arbitrary btw) to Gun A. So when you walk over his corpse and pick up his ammo, the game forcibly switches back to Gun B without your consent. Each and every time. Every time you walk over a corpse, you're left fucking helpless for a moment while everyone shoots you because you have to watch the weapon switch animation. This just punishes experimentation. Is this what you guys are talking about when you say TimeSplitters is better than Halo?
>The AI is stupid
They don't have tactics, they don't have any self-preservation, they don't chase you, they don't flank you, they don't search the area, they don't do anything unless you approach them, they have slow reaction times, there's little tangible difference between the various units, and they all perish quickly; GoldenEye had much better AI than this. Is this what you guys are talking about when you say TimeSplitters is better than Halo?
>Level design
It's just narrow, linear rectangular corridors on flat surfaces. There's no organic geometry, no interesting chokepoints and no depth. GoldenEye had great level design, yet its "successor" has CoD-tier level design without even CoD's spectacle. Is this what you guys are talking about when you say TimeSplitters is better than Halo?

I truly think Timesplitters 2 is a bad game. If you want a coop PS2 FPS, just play Darkwatch. It's actually good and remains consistent, whereas TS2 has two outright terrible levels, some okayish levels, but none I consider exceptional.
>>
>>12635936
6th gen console FPS suck

5th gen console FPS is the peak (goldeneye, powerslave, doom, duke nukem...)
>>
It's just butthurt snoys and goldeneye babbys. The funniest are the contrarian niggers who claim the dogshit first game is the best. The only game worth a damn in future perfect but even that one is just alright.
>>
>>12635956
Is it even Goldeneye babbys when GE annihilates TS in every metric?
>>
>>12635959
Yes because it was made by the og devs they worship
>>
>>12635945
I might check out the Xbox version

Another retard filtered by TimeSplitters. The game just keeps on giving. Why do you go pretend the casualised TS2 is the greatest thing ever, it's the reddit thing to do.
>>
>>12636001
Xbox version isn't coop for some reason, but yeah check it out if you're playing it solo.
>>
>>12635936
Because it seems like you played the first one like some sort of retard. The ones people say are good are 2 and 3.
>>
>>12635956
>>12635959
>>12635967
Goldeneye is consistent and takes place in a contemporary for the time 90s setting

Perfect Dark is consistent and takes place in the far future.

Timesplitters tries to be peanut butter and jelly, but it's more like pickles and chocolate.
>>
>>12636118
>The ones people say are good are 2

They'd be wrong there.
>>
>12636120
gorilla nigger
>>
>>12636120
ACKsHULLay, the game opens in the 1980s
>>
/vr/ has a hateboner for console FPS because of the inherent need for auto-aim. At the same time, they absolutely worship Timesplitters and the N64 Rare shooters, which feature truly aim-bot levels of auto-aim.
>>
>>12635936
No one said this unless they were rage baiting and a lot of our issues like auto switching guns or auto aim can be turned off. Another bait thread here.

Anyway I enjoy 2 the most. Really like the challenges and the game is more refined. Either way these are fun games for coop w crazy characters and some really good music. https://youtu.be/2eIRz14pnjE?is=uF1NNBSNkhmmj8FW

>TimesSplitters mogs Halo
It doesn't and I'm the biggest fan of Time Splitters 1 on this board.
>>Aiming is done automatically
It's a skill to be learned and gives a distinct flow to combat other FPS games don't approach. It's the upper limit to the goldeneye style of aiming and makes the greatest demands of its players.
>in TimeSplitters you are aimbotting even at long distances
You need to do twitch adjustments and it feels great doing so while sweeping encounters in levels.
>Weapon pickups are annoying
Then disable auto switching.
>They don't have tactics,
They have predictable and defined behavior, perfect for an arcade game.
>It's just narrow, linear rectangular corridors on flat surfaces
It's various shooting scenarios you're challenged to clear then perfect.
>>
>>12635936
I was going to call you an idiot for listening to people on /vr/ but then it turns out you're an even bigger idiot for playing TS1 and not 2.

>>12635936
Hint: When Timesplitters fans say that the series is good, they only mean 2 and 3. Nobody likes or plays the first one. I was baited by this too.
>>
>>12636242
>>12636207
False. 1 is excellent.
>>
1 was just a ps2 tech demo with budget perfect dark design and multiplayer bots that can't even play the game. It did give us chinese and other iconic mp maps.
2 is the only one worth playing. It is perfect dark/goldeneye 6th gen edition. Arcade mode variety is insane.
3 is just a generic fps and new maps are very big and boring.
>>
>>12636001
For some reason the Xbox version is stuck at 480i. Irrelevant when emulating but annoying on real hardware.
>>
>>12636001
>>12636254
There is a fix for 480i, and also a fix for the lack of co-op (but it replaces the online multiplayer.)
>>
Play the challenge and arcade leauge modes or Timesplitters 2 story on hard. Then you won't be complaining about it being more casual than Halo and Goldeneye just because it has a stronger auto aim.
>>
the flick stick is less effective than just regular fps aim.
>>
>>12635936
2 and 3 are ones people like ya dingus, 1 is basically a tech demo
>>
>play a tech demo that was only meant to show off ps2 mp capabilities
>durr series bad
On a scale of 1-10 how dumb are you
>>
>>12635936
Maybe play it with manual aim like a man instead of a pussy
>>
>>12635936
>Weapon pickups are annoying

So turn them off, retard.
>>
>>12636654
>play a tech demo that was only meant to show off ps2 mp capabilities
That's not what /vr/ said
>>
>>12636206
>Aiming is done automatically
>It's a skill to be learned
Bait, here's you (You).
>>
>>12636149
>>12636114
The manual aim is so wonky that turning it off makes the game feel like shit. Why didn't they have a GoldenEye-style setting where autoaim is disabled at range? Or better yet, why didn't they beat Halo to good FPS controls?
>>
>>12636984
ts1 was a rushjob launch title for the ps2, it doesn't even have a proper story mode for a reason, just play ts2
>beat halo
it came out a whole year before
>>
>>12636984
>manual aim is so wonky
It works fantastic, you just haven't got accustomed to it because you're a babby and/or an autist who's used to the homogeny of post-Halo shite. You play TS like garbage because it's slightly different, which makes you lash out and blame anything else other than your own shortcomings.
Replaying the last stand challenges where you decap zombies, or getting the unlockables from all three mansion level difficulty settings, will help a player get good.
>>
>>12637131
Ok so "post-Halo shite" is when the AI and level design are good?
>>
>>12637131
>It works fantastic
Not with those deadzones
>>
Timesplitters needs mouse controls so badly
>>
>>12636242
If you didn’t like 1 u either weren’t there for it on launch or u have zero friends to play it with, which is what it was designed for since they saw how successful goldeneyes multiplayer was. It’s a love letter to one of their older games. You can call it a tech demo but it still has more gameplay and value then more modern AAA titles like the new James Bond which not only ruins Bond as a character but is mostly a walking sim and the tutorial is 6 hours long.
>>12636249
It is. Anyone who hates on 1 and is being legit then they just hate fun fps games of the goldeneye style. More likely, it’s just rage bait for engagement on an anonymous board. Cannot tell you how much fun a friend and I had w this game putting in tons of hours in the multiplayer and challenges. 2 doubles down on the challenges while adding a more complete game by having a real campaign. 3 was good but was under funded due to EA pushing a ton of money into the failed golden eye rogue agent, which would have been good had they just used free radical for it since they created the best Bond game, however 3 is still a ton of fun w some cool set pieces in the campaign and another really good multiplayer portion w lots of arcadey challenges but not as good as 2. All in all, it was a great series and a real shame Free Radical went under before getting their Battlefront 3 game out. Still need to try Haze but that’s not retro as far as I know.
>>
>>12637943
>hate fun fps games of the goldeneye style
That doesn't make sense, because GoldenEye is actually great. Read the OP and you'll see repeated comparison with GoldenEye and how TimeSplitters falls short of it; this doesn't sound like somebody hating GoldenEye.
>>
>called story mode
>doesn't have a story
What did they mean by this?
>>
>>12636984
Are you OP?
>waaah, auto-aim is for pussies
>waaah, no auto-aim is too hard
Stupid nigger.
>>
>>12639697
Don't you think that the deadzones and acceleration arcs have anything to do with whether manual aim is pleasant?
>>
>>12636242
It's a lot of fun with a friend :)
