It's time to acknowledge 7 as the best classic Mega Man
>>12636726It certainly had the best wily fight.
>>12636726The original Mega Man is the best, it completely filters the average normie who cries "slippery controls" and "punishing level design" when the challenge presented is far more fair than later games.
le worst game is... le best!!
>>12636735>le worst gamesomeone said my name?
>>12636735>megaman X out of nowhere
>>12636742The original MMX? That game is great though.
>>12636734so many critiques of games are thinly veiled dogwhistles from bad gamers
>>12636743 (checked)kek
>>12636747it's okay to admit you got filtered
>>12636734MM1 is objective jank. Unless you think falling through platforms is a good feature
>>12636751show me an example
>>12636753The floating platforms in Ice Man stage
>>12636757You got filtered by disappearing blocks? lol
>>12636726Is it me or should they have their tie colors swapped?
>>12636751Hate to say it but this is a bad case of mass hysteria, mega man 1 is perfectly playable even if it's not like the other games, you can't really ascribe jankiness to it
>>12636803Retard
>>12636856those arent floating blocks, are you challenged?
>>12636856Just don't get hit by the bullets. It's what causes you to fall off those platforms
>>12636860Nobody mentioned blocks but you, retard.
>>12636880i get that you're trans and got filtered by a simple ass obstacle, all those HRT meds must be making you agitated
>>12636726This game is fucking awful though.
In fantasy land, maybe. I like 7 but it doesn't hold a candle to 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10.>>12636738X6 might not even be in the lower half of X games.
>>12636726I had a lot of fun with it when I played it the first time, but it doesn't hold a candle to previous games when it comes to gameplay. I loved its secrets, nods to the rest of the franchise, exploring every stage with your newly gained weapons helping you reach hidden places and more, but the gameplay is so slow that it made me feel not like I was playing a Megaman game, but taking a stroll through an amusement park. Now, Megaman and Bass... that's a proper game right there.
Yep, Capcom was spoiling us back then.We never imagined how good we had it
>>12636726Mega man has been and will always be gay.
>>12637692Based projector
>>12636726it's got a really charming art style but the oversized sprites hurt the level design a lot
>>12637978This. Looks nice, sounds nice, plays like garbage. R&F is the only good SNES classic MM game.
>muh big spritesPeople who complain about this quite simply don't realize how much dead air there is in the NES games. In the vast majority of screens 70% of space goes unused. Very rarely the games have obstacles that utilize all of the room. Both the (good) GB games and 7 on the other hand are perfectly designed to make the most out of the limited screen size. There is no fat, and as a result they tend to be more dense and faster than the NES games
>>12637978>>12637986I know you ninjas are bad at 7 and got filtered
>>12638090Based. Also how can this be the "GOATED" entry with a boss this fucking dogshit?
>>12636734Doesn't hold a candle to Powered Up.>>12636867No, there is a separate issue where landing on a Footholder that's moving upwards sometimes causes Mega Man to get hit and fall to his death.
>>12637692And that's a good thing
>>12638091Its not exactly the hardest game in the series, maybe people just have different opinions from you.
>>12638090"Dead air" is room to maneuver. Whether it be more room for platforming or dodging, you don't want a series like Megaman to be cluttered or claustrophobic. Between shit like rush coil/adapters and multiple sub weapons, that space is a good thing. Even MM1's magnet beam made good use of it.
>>12638108"room to maneuver" is only valid if there are hazards that warrant it. In the worst cases half of the screen or more is literally useless because it's just the ground.
>>12638114>>12638090Very retarded opinion.BTW, if you play the 8-bit remake of 7, you'll see which game really has the most "useless ground" with nothing going on. Yes, it's 7.
>>12638114>half of the screen or more is literally useless because it's just the ground.Thats how you depict a difference in environment you fucking retard. Outdoor areas tend to be very open, while inside locations like caves and buildings have less space. Are you incapable of abstraction or just more of a bot than the blue bomber himself.
>>12638121>8-bit remake of 7Because the remake takes a game that's designed for its specific proportions and fucks it up with all the dead space, dumbass.
>>12638125We're talking gameplay and you bring up pointless shit about enviroments and immersion? But yeah I guess that whenever the NES games become more cramped than 7 ever is it's good actually because it's a cave or some shit lol
>>12636751>o-ObJeCtiVe J-jaNKk!!1!1!1oneoneone For a mid-to-late 80s game it doesn't even come close to real jank of that era.
Stop liking the Super Nintendo
In all honesty after beating all the modes of the newer MM games (9-10-11) I struggle to find the old ones engaging. They're just too damn easy. Even at their hardest they don't come close to 9 on normal mode.
>>12638572MM9 is a masterpiece and one of the best games ever made so of course nothing compares
>>12638090That rabbit shoots a projectile you need room to avoid it.Also there are normally bats in those trees, you had to take a dishonest cherry-picked screenshot to even pretend to make the well-refuted point.
>>12638097Because one bad boss doesn't ruin an entire game. There are people who love Mega Man 3 and never even beat all four Doc Robot stages.
>>12638132It means you can choose whether the gameplay is cramped or open. It means there's variety in the gameplay. With screen crunch, you can't.
>>12639042>Because one bad bossMega Man 2 happens to have two.
>>12639042NTA but the puzzle boss in 2 is objectively the worst boss in the entire series, even if not difficult. No matter how you feel about the doc robots, they don't force you to commit suicide and farm weapon energy before rechallenging if you misplace like 2-3 shots.
>>12639104Doesn't matter, wasn't the point. Game is still great.>>12639052That boss is fine
>>12639107>balls with hitboxes that extend much lower than their sprite suggests, making them undodgeable in certain formations, are "fine"Post your buster-only, no autofire clear of it.
>>12639042>Because one bad boss doesn't ruin an entire gameMM2 also has the most unbalanced weapon roster in the series, slippery physics that wouldn't be fixed until the next game, and a stage so shit (Heat Man) that nobody beat it without skipping half of it with Item-2, off the top of my head.
>>12639107>Game is still great.I didn't even say anything about the game you illiterate retard, just that it was the worst boss in the series. Fuck, I'd even include High Max from the X series in there. But for the record, 2 is overrated and only decent.
>just recently found out that the werewolves in the optional ruote of Shade Man stage transform into knights and viceversa as the moon shows up and hides behind cloudsHow the fuck did they add so many details to this game in just 3 months?
>>12636726The best? Debatable.Best graphics? Yes! It looks the best of the entire series by far. Its what I think when I think "Megaman." Absolutely iconic.
>>12639169For me is the little quirks in most boss battles:>Freeze Man standing still at the very start of his boss fight if you don't move after his health bar fills up.>Slash Man and Burst Man being weak to two weapons to link both groups.>A code to fight the eight Robot Masters in the order you want.>Freeze Man regaining health and Shade Man getting a fully charged attack if you use their respective weapons against them in the Wily Castle boss gauntlet.>Spring Man punishing you if you use an electric attack against him.
>>12636734Unironically my favorite. Gets more replays from me than anything else in the series.
>>12638097You don't even have to get this far to point out how overrated 2 is. Metal Blade is game breaking OP and you can get it immediately in the easiest stage of the game. It even has an easy mode ffs which is why millennials love it so much.
>>12639420More of an oversight than a quirk, but one of my favorite things is being able to fire a weapon as you're passing through a boss door, and it one-shotting Spring Man right as the fight starts.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PiMOR82Q7sQIt just has perfect comedic timing.
