>First game gets criticism for being too easy
>Every sequel is so hard it's anti-fun
Sigh...
>>
Isn't Jak 3 trivial with Light Jak? You can pause time at whim right? It's been ages since I played it.
>>
>Sigh...
Really gay way to express your point.
>>
>>12638345
You never sigh? Too manly to sigh?
>>
>>12638348
Typing out "Sigh..." conjures up imagery of a sweaty manchild childishly pouting rather than using his words like a regular person.
>>
I’m still stuck at the railshooter in 2 on hero mode as an adult- how the hell sid I do this as a kid?
>>
>>12638383
If you read the whole OP you'll see I did use my words, the "sigh" was merely punctuation on the point I already made.
>>
i dont remember the first game being that easy, but it's the only one i played so i cant compare.
>>
>>12638425
The controls were the hardest part of Jak and Daxter. Especially the hoverbike, fucking nightmare fuel.
>>
>>12638304
>An ugly green haired goblin looking motherfucker with his ugly ass squirrel sidekick
>This well sell out console

WHAT WERE THEY THINKING????
>>
>>12638458
>This well sell out console
AND IT DID.

They were thinking "anime is cool, how do we make an anime-inspired western cartoon-like video game" and yeah Jak is an abomination but he's SOVL.
>>
1 and 3 were extremely easy.
2 was not hard but annoying because of the atrocious checkpoint system.
>>
>>12638541
>2 was not hard but annoying because of the atrocious checkpoint system.
That means it was hard, retard.
>>
>>12638547
No it doesn't.
Fall through the floor and have to replay 10-15 minutes, LOL SO HARD, GET OWNED RETARD!!!!!
An actual hard game is game that kills you because enemies/challenges actually require skill. Jak 2 can be beaten by just spamming circle jump shooting(no, it is not less effective then other means no matter what onions tubers say) and skipping most stuff with the hoverboard.
>>
>>12638304
yup i dropped jak 2 partway through. both the hoverboard mechanics and the vehicle handling are so half-baked and dogshit it just ruins the game.

pic related is the superior ps2 scrimblo bimblo series. 1 already had more gameplay variety than jak 1 and then 2 simply built on everything that made the first one great instead of adding gay new mechanics no one liked. imagine using naughty dog's own engine and to mog their own series.
>>
I always liked the Jak series although I only ever played the mainline series on PS2. They were great games even with the jarring tone shift that Jak 2 took. Not so sure how much they hold up today as its been a long time since I last played them. My biggest memories of the games is primarily Daxter's humor and how the games managed to mix up different types of gameplay in a way that made an overall fun series.
>>12638639
I always wondered about Ratchet & Clank but I never got into this series. I would occasionally see some anons say how its basically a much better version of Jak and Daxter. It seems it has much more of an emphasis on gun combat.
>>
>>12638618
>Fall through the floor and have to replay 10-15 minutes, LOL SO HARD, GET OWNED RETARD!!!!!
Yes actually. That's a definition of a hard game. There's many varieties of "hard", and that is one.

Your ego just won't let you admit you failed at a hard game, so you cope and call it annoying instead. It's a BADLY DESIGNED hard game, but it IS a hard game.

Holy schizo. Headcannons aren't real.
>It's a BADLY DESIGNED hard game, but it IS a hard game.
So fucking close to a normal definition without meds. You were so close.
>>
>>12638701
You didn't actually say anything. Jak II is a hard game, end of.
>>
>>12638724
>You didn't actually say anything
Arguing headcanons with a schizo is not a discussion.
>Jak II is a hard game, end of.
Jak 2 is not a hard game, end of.
>>
>>12638669
>It seems it has much more of an emphasis on gun combat.
yes. there still is platforming but the emphasis is more on gunplay and figuring out which ones to use on different enemy types
>>
>>12638738
>Jak 2 is not a hard game,end of.
You complained about the checkpoint system and falling into pits. Clearly it's not an easy game.

Jak II's hitpoint system was brutal. You have like six hitpoints in total and most attacks take a full hitpoint, some even two.

The abundance of timed missions also fucking sucks, especially the ones with a focus on cars. I say this as someone who played Jak a lot growing up.
>>
>>12638765
>Clearly
One of those is a bug and the other barely happens unless you are playing blind.
I remember the underwater robot getting stuck in a wall in one of my playthroughs. Guess what, after i restarted that didn't happen and the section was slow but piss easy to clear.
>>
>>12638618
Games are designed differently. It's still hard. Taken to its logical extreme, almost no game is hard if you abuse rewind (aka the shortest checkpoint)

If you played older games, you'd realize shit like that is absolutely the norm. Even GTA is like this (the game Jak II is aping)

Get good or quit bitchin
>>
>>12638669
Ratchet 1 is about a 40/40/20 split of combat, platforming, and puzzles. Later games lean into combat a bit more
>>
>>12638467
Not one person I know bought this game
>>
I played jak II recently and I found it wasn't that big of a deal, certain segments were so blown up in my memory and I'd usually get through them with like 1 or 2 deaths. only thing I really remember hating were the gas turret levels.
>>
>>12638805
>Games are designed differently.
Bugs are not design.
>It's still hard
No, it is badly made because of the bugs and the absolute joke of aiming system that trivializes most of the game. Do i have to remind you of the palace fight where you stand still and just shoot while the auto aim kills the enemies. There is nothing in the game that actually poses a threat. Even the most "annoying" mission, the dock one after the seal piece can be beaten easily by just overboarding through enemies.
>Taken to its logical extreme
I don't give a fuck about logical extremes.
>If you played older games, you'd realize shit like that is absolutely the norm
Older games had annoying enemies and pitfalls. Jak has neither. Checkpoints were never a problem in older games considering most of them were quite short.( talking about 4th and under gen).
>Even GTA is like this
No it is not. GTA can be cheesed in a million ways and there is nothing really difficult about gta even if you playing normally.
Enemies, not a threat. And what is there left anyway?
Unless you are one of the worst drivers in the gaming world, there ain't no difficulty.
>Get good or quit bitchin
That would be cute, if my example didn't include a bug.

I know you won't respond to anything i said. But i can keep doing this, there are no mods and you will tire eventually of cheap one liners.
>>
>>12638819
I guess you and your friends just have shit taste.
>>
>>12638862
Switch from a family friendly platformer to edgy gta clone for sales.Sell less than the platformer.
Naughty dog were business geniusses.
>>
>>12638839
you mention two cheese tactics that exist in most games, one of which the hoverboard is fairly forgivable, and are extremely vague otherwise. I would tend to handwave your comments about enemies as you being unreasonable about the pacing of a platformer.
>>
>>12638880
second game is usually going to fade unless the first was a generational mega hit or the second was a series redefining ugrade. no idea if just doing the same thing a second time would have gotten better results.
>>
I don't know why it's impossible to talk about Jak without tards showing up to give their "opinion". It's like moths to a flame. Yes, we know that you're not a fan of the games and don't like how 2 is hard and different. Why do you need to say that in every thread?
>>
>>12638467
>Jak1: 4.2M
>Jak2: 1.55M
>Jak3: 1.33M

It didn't really. Jak1 was a good hit, but still a far cry from the success of Crash Bandicoot, and the sequels were pretty much flops, despite ND trying their hardest to make them appealing to the GTA playing kids
>>
>>12638776
>You have like six hitpoints in total and most attacks take a full hitpoint, some even two.

You have 8 hit points, but the vast majority of attacks do 2 hit points of damage. I think only the green frog enemies in Dead Town do 1 hit point of damage.
>>
>>12638839
I have no idea what bugs you're talking about and didn't read the thread. I'm just saying long/unforgiving checkpoints is a form of difficulty.

Jank is also a form of difficulty, but Jak II doesn't really have any bugs of note, at least not on the PS2 original, you're probably playing the shitty PS4 port or dealing with PCSX2 bugs

Jak 3 is trivially easy. Jak 2 isn't particularly difficult, either. People I know who suck shit at games and give up if they encounter much adversity still got through Jak 2.
>>
>>12639608
Jak 1 is such a beautiful game. My favorite location is snowy mountain, the ost makes it so much better.

>Jak 2 isn't particularly difficult, either. People I know who suck shit at games and give up if they encounter much adversity still got through Jak 2.
Oh sorry, I didn't know you and your friends have a monopoly on facts and that the other 99.99% of humanity who say Jak II is one of the most bullshit games ever made they're just...irrelevant?
>>
>>12640027
Was it the turret section or sewer escort mission that filtered you?
