We sure as shit didn't, but some poor sap did and then sold it to us at a yard sale for a bargain
My next door neighbor's stepfather owned one. He was a crusty old Vietnam vet Marine. Pretty sure he bought it for the porn games. My brother and I borrowed it from the stepson a couple times in exchange for our SNES. My brother monopolized it playing Guardian War. He had several games, but all of them except Theme Park and Guardian War were horrible.

>>12641142I actually know somebody who did buy one, I'm the OP. His dad was a businessman who went to Japan just about monthly and he had pretty much every system and several computers when they came out in Japan, and we could all speak and read Japanese because of our high quality school system in those days so it was great. I pity the poor weebs who can't even speak or read Japanese and need to rely on translation. We would get new anime on Laserdisc or sometimes even S-VHS to watch fresh off the presses in Japan too.He was the only person who I knew who had a 3DO and we never played it.
>>12641520>and we could all speak and read Japanese because of our high quality school system in those days so it was great. What fucking country are you from?
>>12641527Australia. They had to import everything from Japan because their native movies and games were in the objectively inferior PAL format.

>>12641527USA. Why? We had televideo Japanese, there were like 30 kids in the district and it was conducted from my school's TV studio and sent over CCTV, each other classroom had a handful of students.
>>12641558The USA had Japanese language lessons in the 90's that were so good you and all your friends were fluent enough to speak and play Japanese language games? Fuck off mate.
To be fair there was a Jap or two and a hafu in my class which was kinda cheating because the hafu's mom was Japanese and the Japs were Japanese. One of our Japs went on to become a very famous Japanese heavy metal guy lol. He lived in the US for like five years or more and barely ever spoke English, when he did it was all stilted. We would mock him mercilessly but just in a kind good hearted way.
>>12641558>televideo Japanese, there were like 30 kids in the district and it was conducted from my school's TV studio and sent over CCTVArigato, kensama.
>>12641562Yes I went to a magnet school in middle school and had all accelerated and better classes in high school. It helped that we had actual Japs too but wasn't 100% necessary. Our teacher had a degree in Japanese and International Relations from Harvard and just taught part time because "we need more people who can speak AND UNDERSTAND Japanese." I'm certain he was CIA. Many of our lessons were cultural, we learned about how fake-running in the office is necessary and why, etc. Things you would never learn in a normal course in Japanese.
>>12641558>>12641568This sounds very made up and not true.
>>12641570It's 100% real, all of it. You can surely read up about magnet schools and accelerated programs and stuff, they have cut all this way back across the board nationally in the last 20 years but in the 1990s they had all kinds of programs like this. I was in GATE as an elementary student, they clearly tried to channel the smarter youngins into a better program from an early age.Heck before that, I could read. My mom was an elementary school teacher and I could read coming into kindergarten. Imagine how useless the standard educational progression is to a five year old who can both read, and use a dictionary and encyclopedia. I pity you that you are retarded (not chromosomally, just "delayed in development") and can't comprehend any of this.
