I don't think there's any debate here, it's 2 different kind of games.Mario Bros is a classic single-screen arcade game that's based on scoring and has a cool 2 player component, you play the game simultaneously with someone else.SMB is a single player side-scroller and although the game has scoring, it has an ending

Mario Bros belongs in the era of classic arcade game with endless challenge. Super Mario Bros belongs in the era of games in which the challenge is gone and they replaced it with spectacles and story for which the only depth is following a guide.
NES version is too damn easy. They made the jumping control a lot more forgiving than the arcade game.
