There's one videogame store in my small town (Eastern Europe) that has some used ps1 and ps2 models (SCPH-9002 - ps1 thick, SCPH-70004 - ps2 slim, no fat ps2s unfortunately), each costs 100$ (no games included). I don't know anyone nearby who does modchipping and I don't possess such skill either. They also sell original ps1/ps2 games (used) but the prices are ridiculous (from 50 to 1000$, many lack booklets and cases look damaged). I don't know where to buy or order a chipped one, I guess I'm too late to the party and everything is sold out due to speculators and panicking hoarders.Maybe it's not worth the hassle and I should continue emulating games (I have like 70 ps1 and 120 isos on my hdd and I'd gladly burn them on CDs if I could get a chipped ps console). I just want to refresh my childhood memories in a more tactile way.
Score one of them FreePSXBoot PS1 Memory Cards and unlock your PSX without opening it, you just run the exploit from the memory card at boot each time. You can run it from Slot 2, so there is no need to ever remove it, you keep your saves in Slot 1 and be done about it.
you don't need to chip ps2s
>>12641846Ok, these seem to be cheap, I'll order one if I'll find where. >>12641847As far as I know stock ps2 won't read burned discs, only licenced ones unless modchipped. I remember people used to do this a lot back in the day but it was a very long time ago.
>>12641864>stock ps2 won't read burned discsfree mcboot lets you load burned discs, i had my slim set up that way ywars back
>>12641869Ok, so it's similar to FreePSXBoot, I'll try to find one. Although ideally I'd love to buy a thick ps2 model and insert a hdd wih dozens of games, although it requires a special IDE to SATA adapter (which can be ordered from aliexpress) and some configuration. Damn I should had done this earlier, it's getting difficult to get anything, The last time I played ps2 was 15 years ago.But at least there's an emulator (I'm curious about how different a real hardware feels compared to emulation).
>>12641887You can get a 3rd party "network adapter" with a sata connector but no ethernet connector OR you can get a seperate sata connector board to replace the ide connector in the 1st party network adapter on Amazon for about $20. You can also get FreeMCBoot cards from Amazon for about $15.
>>12641887Emulate it and realise the games are shit and you cba to play them
>>12641869>free mcboot lets you load burned discsIt doesn't. But if you install Open PS2 Loader on top of it, you'll be able to run games from a flash / hard drive, which is even better (the laser in a PS2 slim WILL die, most likely sooner than later). PS2 + FMCB card was the best vidya purchase I've made.
