You're thinking of Die by the Sword and I grew up with that game as a kid. That game's controls are so insanely hard its like the kazohack of learning 90s third person controls. But that also makes it ultra charming in its own weird way. Insanely brutally hard game. For a game like Gothic, that detracted from my enjoyment not added to it in a charming way, but one day I will try to get into Gothic again. Its just dreadfully dull in the beginning and I must be a retard because I want to go and kill things but i was like 2ish hours in and I was still just doing errands around the town.
