What /vr/ game are you currently playing and what do you think of it?

I just beat Ganso Jajamaru Kun (Wonderswan) and I enjoyed it quite a lot. It's a remake of an NES game and it very much is an NES game++. It was surprisingly challenging too as it took me half a dozen attempts of losing all my continues before I finally beat it on a single continue.

Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon (N64)
very fun quirky little action adventure, baby easy but sometimes that's just what you want
>>
>>12642719
Been dicking around in V-Rally on the Game Boy, really quite solid. Still getting a handle on the controls on the harder tracks.
>>
I've been playing Yu-Gi-Oh Forbidden Memories lately, and while I'm really enjoying it, I have no fucking clue what I'm doing and keep getting destroyed in the CPU battles. Am I just supposed to know the best monster fusions off the top of my head?

>>12642719
>star cruiser 2
awesome
>tactics ogre the knight of Lodis
awesome
>Star Fox 2
Incredible, a masterpiece

Jet Force Gemini. It's just as fun as I remember.

tony hawk 3 replay and mario land 2. TH3 is one of the greatest games ever made and mario land 2 is pretty alright, quite the massive jump in quality from the first game, but I prefer the wario land series
>>
>>12642781
Based anon, I've been playing that too. Never managed to beat Mizar back in the day, might give it another shot if I can be fucked getting all the goddamned tribals again
>>
>>12642719
I'm replaying Tactics Ogre on the SFC. I went with the Neutral route because I like Orias' and Debordes' feud against their father so I took it this time.
>what do you think of it.
Archers are broken but magic is fucking ridiculous with how overpowered it is:
>The assault on Fiduc castle to wrap up Ch. 3
>I have to get 2 extra level ups just to tank magic attacks -- even with three healers deployed on my team.
>Then, inside the castle.
>For some reason, one of the wizards behind the Lodis' knights beelined towards my siren.
>I didn't manage to kill him in the previous turn and was in critical health.
>Used Pain on her (damages with the amount of health lost) and one-shot her.
>I had given her an Undead Ring for the stat boost and because I thought females couldn't use it for promotion.
>She got turned into a lich(ess).
>I was so tired with that battle that I didn't restart it.
I didn't remember it was this bad after replaying the modded PSP remake for so long.

>Am I just supposed to know the best monster fusions off the top of my head?
You only need the Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon to carry you through 90% of the game:
>Fuse a Dragon and other card for a higher tier Dragon (+Plant for a Black Jungle Dragon King or + Rock for a Stone Dragon, for example), then that one with an Electric one for the THTD.
You soup it up with equip cards and keep the grueling grind until you can win a Meteor Dragon or a Black Meteor Dragon.

great adventure is way better

Finally played Bonk's Adventure yesterday after putting it off for decades. Fun little game, final boss was actually pretty challenging. I don't really feel like playing the sequels yet, maybe some day.

in your opinion :)
I think that game kinda sucks, personally

Shenmue 2. Not as magical as shenmue 1 but a nice continuation still. Currently at the part where you have to get 500 dollars to progress. Besides that I play some random stuff on emulators almost every day. I have lots of real hardware but only using xbox for shenmue atm. I beat ninja gaiden black not too long ago. Awesome game.

Castlevania - Aria of Sorrow (GBA)

About 20% of Achivements, and about 52% of the map.

Excellent game. My first GBASP game back in Highschool so there is a high emotional attachment to it, still I am confident it is an excellent game. Rewarding, not too hard, constantly unlocking cool stuff, no need for grinding but tons of powers to acquire if you manage to capture souls...

Cool beans, to be honest.
Much recommended.

I'm on the third night of the first Fatal Frame game. I've learned that it's better to run from the Wandering Monks.

I'm about to play Shadow Tower on PS1 emulator. Let's see if it's better than King's Field.
>>

NTA but strange, GGA is one of the fan favorites. But MNSG is too.
GGA is just the most challenging Goemon game though.
>>
>>12643035
It's not, but then again I thought KF1 was a masterpiece.
>>
>>12642798
Yup I'm right there too. It's really not as bad as I remember, most levels pack all the tribals in 3 or 4 locations. Plus you can work on them while collecting the spaceship parts. I only have 3 parts left I think and maybe 4 or so more planets to clear of tribals.
>>
>>12643035
i tried it recently and hated it because of its view distance without torches and its level design is really bland compared to KF. Oh yeah...no sprint button. DROPPED
>>
>>12643064
i've legitimately never heard GGA praised over MNSG outside this board

Just beat this game, decided to play it because when I was younger I really loved it but man does it not hold up well. For starters they constantly give you guns and then take them away the very next level, but you'll still find ammo for the guns you're missing so it's like it's constantly teasing you. Enemy variations are limited, you basically fight the same 4 guys over and over. The flying levels are frustrating and control like shit, and it really becomes a slog in the last 20% of the game. Last boss is a huge bullet sponge too and not in a fun way, had to spend most of the fight running around looking for ammo.

2.5/5 doesn't hold up nearly as well as I remember which is a shame.

Since I got replies I feel an obligation to follow up, no matter how boring my opinion is

I played for about 15 minutes and stopped. I might give it a go with save stating later on.. but for now I'm kind of fed up with retro game shittyness, truly.

t.Ninja Jajamaru franchise appreciator.

>Terranigga on the SNES
Cool game, I'm almost on the 4th chapter, the dialogue and music is kinda lame and simple for my taste, but it's cool. I hope it turns to be what people tell about.

>Harvest Moon: Back To Nature
I like this one a lot, I was replaying it after 1 decade, sadly it gets boring after a while.

jet grind radio is pretty fun but I wish they just gave you a grind and graffiti button instead of having graffiti be shared with camera recentering which makes the chase missions feel way less fun than they should

Nah son. Go straight to Kings Field 4 and Shadow Tower: Abyss on the ps2. They are fucking masterpieces and the *true* Proto-Demons Souls experiences. Trust. You will not regret the atmospherekino

Not sure if it counts, but I've been playing through that 30th anniversary hack of Super Mario World on Hard Mode, and I'm not sure I'm finding it all that fun. I'm at the Forest of Illusion, and yes, it's hard, not kaizo hard or anything (yet), but a lot of the difficulty comes through the addition of annoying obstacles, unkillable and untouchable enemies that are also hard to avoid, and one time try puzzles. I can and have been getting through once I adjusted to the changes, but I just feel the difficulty doesn't add all that much to the game outside of certain puzzles requiring you to explore the levels more and try new things to progress and unlock new exits, which isn't too bad, I suppose.
>>
>>12643087
Maybe it's more that not as many people played it back in the day, GGA is harder to come by, probably not as many units were produced as the first game, but it's generally considered one of the best Goemon games by Japanese fans
>>
>>12642993
I remember looking up a guide for something random in this game years ago and the guy who wrote made a comment about how cute the protagonist is.
>>12642995
Same. I'm getting high tonight so maybe I'll feel like fucking around in Shenmue

Playing Oracle of Ages
Man. I am too retarded for puzzle games. Wnen I reached the boss that you need to throw bombs at the top of his head I was constantly pausing the game to exchange the bombs to the jump feather in the button configuration, climbing to the rotating platforms trying to aim the bombs only to realize I can use the other bottom to put jump feather on it and not pause constantly and also that I can just throw the bombs from the very top instead of using the rotating platforms

I felt really stupid but it was also very fun to realize it

Apparently it's the name of the GAME itself, or the developers. King Arthur's World is the game.
>>
>>12643674
What the shit, we can't mention the name of the developers of King Arthur's World or Star Fox? The hell is going on here? Why are the SuperFX creators banned on /vr/?
>>
>>12643674
>King Arthur's World
Are you using the mouse?
>>
>>12643212
Oh yes, the end result of an ambitious prequel with not enough time & resources because Acclaim wanted the money they're bleeding. If you're playing the awful PC version (god forbid), then the flight mode is even more broken as it ties to the mouse... Meaning your bird can turn on a dime in open areas.

Yeah, quite the shame because Evolution was meant to be a bit grander with some more set pieces, a fleshed out story, a more proper final boss (as in it's meant to be in 3 phases), and plans to ride on more dinosaurs than the Quetzalcoatlus.
>>
>>12642719
>echo night beyond
It's good, and way more depressing than the first game, but it's hard to determine how to progress at times, basically pixel hunting without a mouse.
>fatal frame 2
Pretty great. Feels surprisingly modern for a retro game.

Here are a couple protips for you: you can get power up weapons that only last the remainder of the level, so of them can be fired upwards. Also when you get 4 power ups you automatically turn into a frog (better to do it once you got the leaf in the level if you can but that means not breaking any more bricks) but I realized that you can also actually manually activate that if you only picked up 3, I don't know exactly how though I just pushed all buttons when I was dizzy after getting hurt and it worked (twice)
>>
>>12643994
Good looking out. Thank you!
>>
Megaman X5 and it sucks. Useles boss weapons, you need to rush because of Eurasia and the Sigma final fight is just a rip-off from Megaman X
>>
>>12642719
was playing Medal of Honor to study PS1 visuals while dumping the textures, looking at things like texel density and grid sizes etc, wireframe mode helps to get an idea. ended up playing for ~3 hours or so, surprised me with how fun it is even in this fucked up view. will have to do a proper playthrough
also did the same for Silent Hill, the atmosphere and sound design is great but it's losing me a bit with the amount of enemies. I'm out exploring and keep getting those fucking flying things and dogs come at me. I guess I could ignore them, or at least ignore the former but idk
>>
Beyond the beyond. Balancing is bad, not because it's hard but due to how the mechanics are handled, though it does get better in the second half. Fuck the pirate character for starting so under leveled, he's never catching up.
