Resident Evil 3 is the best game in the classic PS1 trilogy

>The QTEs make sense and are tense, Nemesis stalkings are intense and escalatory, blowing through hordes of zombies, completing a bunch of interesting puzzles really one of the best bursts of resident evil there is
>No love story, not much of new lore in it - just pure action and survival.
>UBCS (Carlos, Nikolai and Mikhail), and they're still hopeful about helping evacuate civilians. You can also read about this in the files scattered around. However, once Jill reaches the Clock Tower and Park, you find communications (between UBCS and Umbrella, and also between their office branches) that the whole Raccoon City operation was sacked, that the military are going to nuke everything and there's no way Umbrella can dissuade them anymore (you find this fax in an improvised HQ at the graveyard). They change objectives from evacuating civilians to just evacuating executives and copying leftover files. Everyone should find a way to escape by the deadline, or they'll be on their own.
>Jill being able to visit the police station, Clock tower, the park, most of the side areas like the gas station or the newspaper building, the factory
>Nemesis seems unkillable on the first go, but gives you a reward every time you kill him
>choices are more than just "route A - route B"
>crafting allows for flexibility of the guns you fancy this round
>Bonus Eagle & Western Custom M37
>Nemesis has 900 HP for Carlos instead of 800
>You want STARS? I'll give you STARS.
>Earning them points for the unlimited weapons was fantastic. Blitzing through the areas saving the civilians

I like Resident Evil 3 more than 2, but nothing can top the original. It’s still the second best in the franchise.

I disagree. After we are treated to a fantastic opening cut scene we get a slide show of Jill sitting around in a tube top with her thumb up her ass watching the city burn. Everything up to the RPD is under whelming and the RPD itself was badly underutilized to the point that Jill should not have even stepped foot in it.

The game hits its stride after exiting the RPD the Clock Tower. The QTEs make sense and are tense, Nemesis stalkings are intense and escalatory, blowing through hordes of zombies, completing a bunch of interesting puzzles really one of the best bursts of resident evil there is.

Then the game hits the skids at the hospital and never recovers. The park sucks, gravenagger sucks, the bridge sucks, dead factory sucks, piss valve fight sucks, block puzzle Malaysia sucks.

Solid and fitting closing cutscenes tho! Epilogues suck.

I like how bosses have B solutions to them just like in RE1, something 2 was sorely lacking.

Sorry OP, RE3 is my personal favorite too but it's basically an expansion pack for 2 which is simply better.

The nemesis fights are very frustrating because the dodge mechanic doesn't work well half the time, particularly in tight areas.
You'll dodge but since there is no space she'll just dodge and stay in range and get smacked or grabbed, so at some point I just gave up on dodge and just manually dodge everything because I could not count on it to work as intended.
I noticed how you didn't actually mention the combat which is on purpose probably because when the thing that distinguishes this game from others is not pulled off properly, that is a big blow to the game.
Also the level design is not as tight as in the first RE nor as big as the second, it's in this weird middle ground where it does neither as well while also not introducing anything new.
It's still a good game but there is clear reason why this one is talked about the least.
