Yoshi's Island is a pretty game, but it's not very fun.> has a lot of NOT fun levels.> a lot of NOT fun boss fights.> lot of NOT fun gameplay mechanics.> Baby Mario constantly screaming is annoying.> some of the level designs are annoying and maze-like.> the Pirahna Plant boss fight in particular is the most awful of all the boss fights.> took me forever to figure out how to actually do Yoshi's Eggshot thing while always being blocked underneath a bridge.honestly, it's just not my game. It really should've been called Yoshi's Story instead of Super Mario World 2, because that's not actually what it was.It literally should have been called Yoshi's Story just like the actual one on the Nintendo 64, which is also not a very fun game either. I played that recently, it's like that game kind of sucks. Yoshi's Story is cozy and cute, but it's not fun.> it's just kind of super linear> super kiddy> it felt like i was playing like an educational preschooler game.it just wasn't fun for me. Now, I would only watch small portions of that game by YouTubers, but I would never go out of my way to buy it or play it basically. Same thing with Yoshi's Island, I wouldn't go out of my way to play that either.
In Japan it wasn't even Super Mario World 2, it was used as bait to sell the game as a "sequel" by using that title. In Japan it is simply "Super Mario Yoshi's Island". America Nintendo was worried about marketing it as a spin-off so they tacked SMW2 on it
Yoshi's Island is a masterpiece. Yoshi's Story is abject dogshit. Shit thread. Kill yourself.

>>12643523Baby Mario screaming constantly is, in fact, a skill issue.
>>12643530The original working title in Japan was SMB5 (SMW was SMB4 over there)
>>12643573Okay that still doesn't make it SMW2
>>12643587Agreed, it has some elements (mostly some visual aesthetics and concepts) borrowed from SMW, as well as SMB2, but it is its own thing.Still the SMW2 subtitle didn't come out of nowhere, it has the SMB5 precedent.Devs are allowed to make sequels that play different
>>12643523I never understood the hate for Yoshi's Story. It's one of the nicest looking N64 games, has a great OST and IMO the best controls of any 2D platformer ever made. Say what you want about the challenge or length of the game but gott damn does Yoshi control well. Speaking of length, you missed the entire point of the game if you didn't clear it a dozen times to get all the extra levels and subsequently didn't explore for all the hidden areas with mini bosses and such. I fire YS up every few years and I'll still occasionally stumble onto an area I've never seen because of all the nooks and crannies. It's a great little game that gets undeserved hate because of muh baby aesthetic (ironic given the dicksucking YI receives when it featured an actual crying baby) and THE ASSHOLE. I wish we had gotten more 2D N64 games with similar graphics and gameplay.
>>12643610The reason I don't like Yoshi's Story is because the level design just feels like nothing. It's so weird how this game was made by Nintendo's veteran staff when everything about it feels like a quickly outsourced game. I don't necessarily think it's irredeemable or unplayable, but it feels so redundant and sad compared to almost any SNES game. It also feels redundant compared to its contemporary 3D game peers.
>>12643610>controlsIt's so funny that I know exactly what to avoid and what to go to. I can speak shitter now. I'm fluent in their language. Whenever they say the movement and controls are "good", it means it's comfy slop that takes no skill. If the movement is described as "janky" or "clunky" it means the game has actual thought behind the level design and takes skillPSA for the other anons who don't suck at games, just thought I should provide a translation
>>12643663t. licked Yoshi's supple anus repeatedly and violently until blowing a bussy load directly onto his entire Mega Drive collection, only for Yoshi to look back and grin
>>12643523The mazes are what makes it great. No platformer world felt so alive and populated. Kirbys adventure had potential but it felt so linear and less populated.
>>12643610Oh yeah the eat asshole song was really great, anon. Do you like gay cocks too like me? Just curious.
>>12643523Out of all the very overrated nintendo slop that people suck off to no end, Yoshi's Island is the single one where I simply don't get it. The game is not fun in the slightest, I guess it really boils down to brand loyalty.
What if you play it like a score attack similar to pic related?
