the beginning of Sonic and Knuckles is nothing like a beginning zone and the zones you play after are long and feel like endgame setpieces, you cannot obtain the super emeralds because it requires the game to be locked on which only further proves it is part 2 of a 2 part game which should've been released as one.

I don't mean the difficulty, the start of every sonic zone up to 3 itself was always green and blue, with a sea in the background and green grass everywhere. Mushroom hill is nothing like it, doesn't feel much like a starting location for a sonic game.

The existence of them and being only obtainable in the locked on version only proves the vision was you are playing the game locked on, not separate. You don't even get to experience all of Knuckles' unique routes in Sonic 3 because you are playing the halfway point instead of the first part.

Sega admitted themselves they regret splitting S3&K into 2 parts for the sake of a Mcdonalds commercial, how do you exactly refute this? I don't intend to be obnoxious either i'm just curious on how you explain this. Also Angel Island fitting the same criteria I just listed is more proof it was the intended first zone, thus the intended game is locked on. Even advertisers said Sonic and Knuckles was intended to be locked on, my box art says the exact thing I can happily take a picture right now to prove it.

It is way to long, this is usually a phenomenon with late game zones if we go by the genesis games track record, metrepolis zone for sonic 2, scrap brain zone for sonic 1, you get the point.

Because that bonus is only obtainable by locking on the game due to the time constraints well documented with this game, why would a bonus be put behind buying an entirely new different game if it wasn't for that reason alone?

Unpopular opinion, but Sonic & Knuckles is the better half of S3&K. Sonic 3 is piss easy, anyone can beat that game. S&K is where it really gets difficult.
>Mushroom Hill is easy, sure, but Flying Battery tests your platforming abilities in an immensely difficult manner, where not being crushed by the magnetic spikes is the main source of difficulty, and is way harder than Hydrocity’s water sections, Marble Garden’s spinning tops, or the barrel of doom.
>Sandopolis challenges the player through the passing of time; act 1’s quick sand and slow pathways takes up a lot of time for noobs, and Act 2 has the GHOSTS of doom, quicksand that are hell for scrubs as well, but can be bypassed by pros.
>Lava Reef has the crushing spikes & exploding badniks which act as filters.
>Death Egg is pure skill-based platforming; you can bypass the yellow teleporters if you understand the right paths, and the electric ground & elevators actually challenge the player, which Launch Base does not do at all

I wouldn’t say so.
When most people mention S3&K, they mostly mention zones like Ice Cap, Launch Base, Carnival Night, etc; along with the role that Michael Jackson played in producing its soundtrack.
The general consensus is that S3 is better.
Since I don’t think I can link anything here, if you look up basically anywhere in threads or reviews about S3&K, there’s a constant reminder from fans that S3 is better
