The best new PS1 ODE “ArcStation” is here and all your other shit is now obsolete

Perfect Raspberry Pi Pico console hardware 1:1, no soldering, just shove in four wires and you’re done. Fully reversible and plug-and-play on ALL models
>>
>>12645423
And yet your jewkraine shartstation knockoff still has innaccurate timing issues and isnt speedrunning viable while the xstation is. Curious
>>
Just emulate or burn a CD. This is consoom slop.
>>
Why didn’t Xstation do this to begin with? Why go through some insane soldering problem when you can just plug in a few cables
>>
>>12645429
Could (you) repeat that, but in actual words?
>>
>>12645429
>speedrunning viable
tranny
>>
>>12645439
Xstation isn't "insane soldering" kek. Obviously less soldering the better but it's very simple.
>>
I just use my MiSTer for PSX stuff these days.
>>
>>12645585
Why would you use an overpriced piece of shit like that?
>>
>>12645423
It's $160. Fuck no. I'll wait for a chink knockoff of this or mStation when it comes out.
Speaking of mStation, rama seems to be quite shaken up about the competition.
>>
>>12645429
>oo oo ahahah cykaaaaaaaa
Repeat that comrade?
>>
>>12645590
Because it's better than real hardware.
>>
>>12645590
Everything is overpriced when you can just emulate for free on whatever x86 machine you have around
>>
>>12645603
Yes. You’d have to be a retard to buy a dedicated emulator box when you can emulate PlayStation at full speed on decades old computers.
>>
I just wanna know if it’s accurate to real hardware. I don’t give a fuck if the install is easy or not, I just want the purest ODE possible.
>>
>>12645630
Then burn a CD.
>>
>>12645429
>speedrunning viable
no ode is viable because if you modify your hardware you are cheating.
>>
>>12645631
I’m already doing that of course, but I’d love a plug and play ODE that lets me save on discs and laser usage. Except if it runs inaccurately.
>>
>>12645640
Yeah I bet you’d love a plug. A butt plug.
>>
>>12645637
Almost all leaderboards for challenge runs are already bending to emulatorfags by allowing shit like Duckstation. Even console leaderboards allow game loader homebrew in the face of inaccuracies and blatant advantages. All just to make Brazilians happy.
>>
>>12645630
tito said in his video that the author of the arcstation tested around 100 games with 0 issues.
i only believe half of what tito says, but if the creator of arcstation tested it thoroughly, it should be fine. plus it should be updatable to fix issues.
just to be safe you can wait for the first preorders to get to reviewers.
>>
>>12645647
that is sad.
they can allow modified hardware and emulators all they want but they are only cheating themselves believing they achieved something.
>>
>>12645602
No?
>>
>>12645630
>I just want the purest ODE possible
>ODE
>Optical Drive Emulator
>Emulator
>pure

>>

Took long enough. I'll wait for the cheaper clones.
>>
>>12645681
As long as the CPU and GPU handles the data of the game properly I don’t really give a fuck if the data is fed via infrared transfer from a fucking Nokia phone. For an ODE I just want accurate performance, not nostalgia boners from “the ritual of opening the jewel case” or whatever gay shit people value
>>
>>12645653
The problem is testing a 100 games and saying they’re “fine” could be blurted out by any shitty Ukrainian street child. I will do what you said though, and wait for someone capable to actually analyze the thing and see what this shitty Raspberry Pi toy does that supposedly matches the accuracy of a soldered Xstation. Maybe the technology has been figured out now, I have no idea.
>>
>>12645647
You didn't speedrun the game
>>
>>12645423
>now obsolete
Not really
>>
>>12645850
yes.
the day the first preorder ships, your xstation will explode.
>>
>>12645439
>Why didn’t Xstation do this to begin with?
Same question. If it doesn't plug into the same cables the original drive did, is it really an ODE?
>>
>>12645439
>If only I put in the last screw first, I'd have saved a lot of time
>>
>>12645593
Yeah it's too expensive (and that's the early adoption price, full price is like $190USD) and being a new product it's gonna be a bitch to order while it's in stock.

>Speaking of mStation, rama seems to be quite shaken up about the competition.
He wasn't the only one with the idea of using a pico as a PS1 ODE, or even just as an ODE at all. Hell his own mStation was heavily parallel with picostation until that project died off.
I do admit I thought this thing was fake just like rama did. It showed up out of the blue, none of the usual e-celebs were able to show it off ahead of its announcement/pre-order period, much less heard of it in advance, and there wasn't any demo shown on the website either, making it even more surprising when it turned out to be legitimate.

because it's not trivial to emulate a cd drive at the point where the cable connects. keep in mind the optical mechanism in the psx that connects to the main board is not the whole optical drive, it's JUST the mechanical parts, so the signals going through the cable are raw spindle motor speed control, laser assembly worm gear motor control and voice coil controls, and the data output is raw RF. it's not like replacing an entire optical drive (with its' controller) where you can do simpler stuff like "i want sector N" and you return sector N with regular digital logic

this may be easier to install and i'm sure people have wanted to do this from the beginning, but actually making something that can replace just the mechanical parts isn't easy at all and i'm surprised someone managed to figure it out
>>
>>12645423
Awesometacular.
>>
>>12645948
>i'm surprised someone managed to figure it out
people said it was impossible.
that makes other people do things just to prove it is possible.
>>
>>12645968
I assume it's more to do with the software side of things rather than hardware
>>
File: 1765030582570534.jpg (35 KB, 500x336)
35 KB JPG
I'll wait for actual benchmarks.
>>
>>12645968
even if it wasn't considered impossible, it's certainly the hard way to do it. first ones were never going to go for that since it's way harder and only really has the benefit of being solderless

>>12645984
yea, all you have for inputs is the psx's cd controller sending out motor/voice coil signals, so you have to simulate where the laser would be pointing given those signals and emit a suitable constant stream of simulated RF, this is higher bitrate than the typical 300KiB/s the psx cd drive is rated for as well because it's not decoded digital data, it's raw "straight off the laser" data, so with things like eight-to-fourteen encoding included.
>>
>>12645986
i wouldn't expect games to load any faster than normal, though theoretically seek times could be improved since there's no physical worm gear to move, it depends on the psx's cd controller how much you can speed that up without confusing it. the throughput can't be improved since you're still using the original cd controller. because of that i'd imagine compatibility would be perfect however. just speculating here, i'm not involved with it.
>>
>>12646004
also note that rotational latency can't be improved either, since the cd mech being emulated isn't directly told what sector the controller is looking for. this is likely why their page says to use a low latency sd card, since it'd have to seek around a lot while the cd controller hunts for the sector it's looking for

Oooooh remember the SuperStation?

https://x.com/TakiUdon_/status/2068182959212122191

how people could NOT buy one because there never was in stock in months and that tranny mod was falsifying videos to naysay me?

yeah, you got dupped.
>>
>>12645429
>and isnt speedrunning viable
who the fuck cares?
>>
>>12646004
>>12646013
So all it really does is add the convenience of not having to swap discs? I was hoping for at least a slight decrease in load times.
>>
>>12646045
People who want an authentic experiance.

you might as well go play emulation if you're willing to settle for this crappy lesser slavo-chink inauthentic knockoff
>>
>>12646030
I remember when I got mine and the fucking thing kept overheating, then the slant's customer service was basically useless. Last time I trust one a them, I tell you what. Never got ripped off by the Ukrainian, he fixed one of my Everdrives for free years after I bought it, now that's customer service.
>>
>>12646053
yeah i remember those posts, and EVERYBODY kept telling you to shut up.
>>
>>12645429
>AIDS-ridden moskal foaming at the mouth.
Speak English, garbage.
>>
drive emulators are the coolest shit, but I wish they came out 20 years ago because it's so ubiquitous to just emulate all of that old stuff now.
>>
Playstation 2 ODE when?
OPL and Neutrino compatibility issues tick me off
>>
>>12646205
How old is the build you use?
Also what makes you think this thing doesn't have compatibility issues?
>>
>>12646205
>OPL and Neutrino compatibility issues tick me off
then use HDLoader 0.8c as a backup, ive been using HDLoader since 2004, there are some things that dont work on OPL that work on HDL, if you switched to exfat no HDL for you.

So I got an order in for the ArcStation, but unable to pay. It seems like there's a payment processor issue, but I haven't gotten notification nor instructions on how to complete the transaction. Has there been any updates?

PSIO sisters....
>>
>>12646247
ill just continue burning my DVDs.
I have 6 PS2s so i think the lasers will last me long enough.
>>
For PS2 games, just mod a fat PS3 that still has an Emotion Engine chip in it. Load that up with PS2 games and you're good to go.
>>
>>12646349
I only have a PS3 that has the PS2 GPU (Graphic Synthesizer), but doesnt have the CPU(Emotion Engine )
>>

compatibility aint amazing, might aswell just use a real PS2
