RE2 is literally one of the easiest and most signposted games in the series

>the game showers you in ammo and healing items
>combat is incredibly simplistic and just involves tapping one button while the game perfectly autoaims
>changing weapons, reloading, and healing can all be done while paused removing all tension
>the progression is extremely obvious (the game even flashes/highlights where to go despite it being extremely obvious)
>every area has a detailed map even for areas you haven't been and has color coded doors
>the manhole in the kennel explicitly says you can move it wih a tool when interacted, the guy in the prison cell mentions it, the game makes the manhole tool sparkle and literally calls it "MANHOLE OPENER", when there was literally nowhere else to go and the manhole is already marked on the map anyways. Just one example but stuff like this is all over the game
>"""puzzles""" are toddler level and involve pushing three boxes into a row, moving two bookshelfs to match an illustration right next to it, and pushing a statue into a conveniently placed square (yes, those are the hardest puzzles btw)
>scenario B even reuses many of these braindead ""puzzles"" verbatim with identical solutions
>there are no higher difficulties or arrange modes
>even Max Rank only requires you to beat either scenario without first aid sprays (use the dozens of herbs instead), and with 0-6 saves and in 0-5.5h (each hour less allows you to use 2 more saves and vice versa) which is extremely generous and easy to achieve if you have even played the game once

RE3 and Code Veronica both blow this shit away in terms of challenge and complexity.
>>
An idiot admires complexity....

It's proto-RE4. And you also missed the last type of puzzle: finding an item on the ground and immediately putting it into the wall in front of it.
>>
oh yeah, this is that alone in the dark clone series, right?
>>
>>12646038
>RE3
It is the best out of the original 4
>Code Veronica
What the fuck?

fpbp

i've been posting on retard ass /vr/ for years and i still can't tell if you guys are doing some kind of post ironic elaborate meta troll by saying dumb shit like this or if you really do all just have abysmal taste
>>
>>12646169
Not sure which one you mean. But code veronica sucks ass after a certain point. Re3 gets better the more you progress.

Still and will always be the greatest Resident Evil game of all time
>best environment
>best music
>best atmosphere
>best characters
>best pacing
>best replay value
>arguably has the strongest second half in the series (something every RE game struggles with)
>>
>>12646038
>"""puzzles""" are toddler level
Outside of a couple of puzzles in RE3, the series has always had piss easy puzzles.
>>
>>12646038
RE2 is to RE1 as Sonic 2 is to Sonic 1

In both cases the sequel pleased the crowd with design decisions that favor flow over difficulty because the original game filtered half the players with its slower and more demanding pace.
>>
>>12646169
I thought RE3 sucked on release due to dropping the second character and re-using RE2 assets but looking back it's the best campaign even if lacks a little replayability compared to the first two. But replayability doesn't matter in 2026 when there's a bazillion games to play instead of just the few you could afford with your childhood allowance and whatever Blockbuster was carrying.

Code Veronica is just bad, it was like Capcom saw the Mila Jovovich movies and thought "that's so cool lets make a game closer to the movies."

Deranged take. I beat RE4 with almost no issues but couldn't even get past the very first handful of zombies in RE2. I kept dying and then gave up.
>>
>>12646038
>i played this game 500 times and memorized everything, it's too easy
>>
>>12646038
Dark Souls hadn't come out yet, so nobody had any fucks to give that video games were easy.

>but RE3
Had exponentially worse story, music, and its gameplay consisted of sprinting away from the same one enemy.
>but CV
Was extremely ugly and had tons of backtracking
>>
zombies just didnt feel dangerous at all in re2 when they very much did in the previous game.
>>
>>12646038
Resident Evil 3 is "hard" for wrong reasons, it's just fucking confusing when it doesn't have to be like it's stupid gun powder shit and weird ass items like a wrench

I thought RE2 was harder than Re3.........

Even the devs felt like they were making it too easy just to accommodate beginners.
>>

I am so sick of long time fans talking about how resident evil is easy and it gives you shit loads of ammo.

It isn't easy. You have just beaten it to death. These are puzzle games ffs. Once you figure out where to go and what to do the challenge is trivial by design, which is why they have speed clear rewards.

Watching a person who has never played RE before is eye opening, because they don't immediately zero in on all of the pick ups in the room. You would be surprised how many people miss SO much ammo to the point where they can BARELY beat the bosses.

>combat is incredibly simplistic and just involves tapping one button while the game perfectly autoaims

RE1 and 3 also have auto aim and RE1 also tells you where to go like twice
>>12646778
RE1 gives you less room to dodge zombies, if you are surrounded by zombies they can pretty much stun lock you and the beginning of the games gives you so little ammo you actually have to think about how to use it.
RE2 gives you more space to dodge zombies and more ammo in general. It tires to compensate with more on screen zombies.
>>12646819
The ammo crafting can be pretty stupid on you first playthrough, before you know what to prioritize and what to ignore completely (like the magnum ammo)
>>
>>12646245
Code Veronica came out two years before the first RE movie, anon, it's why the second movie re-uses the scene from the CV opening.
>>
>>12647323
I thought auto-aim was only added in the Directors Cut or Dual Shock versions, it wasn't in the original version of RE2.
>>
>>12646038
Still a 10/10 game

>>12646169
How have you not noticed by now that it's the same games with the same troll spam over and over year after year? Amazes me that the threads still get 100's of 'serious' replies.

RE2 was the entry point in the series for many 90s gamers because it was marketed like a mainstream blockbuster summer movie and definitely feels more like that in tone compared to RE1.
