>>12647316Absolutely>>12647319Cope its amazing
>>12647315I loved zero mission as a kid, and for some reason I believed the NES og would be good too and bought it.. hot damn what a disappointment that was lol. Super metroid was decent though
>>12647423You could unlock NES Metroid on the Zero Mission cartridge after beating the normal game
>>12647423>>12647426Replay both games anon
>>12647518Can I replay NES Metroid with that romhack that adds a little minimap in the corner, or is that cheating?

First good Metroid game
>>12647571Zero Mission is good, but to say that all of the others before it weren't is nonsense.
>>12647520draw the map yourself pussy
>>12647668i did that when i was a teenager. i think i still have the map somewhere
>>12647315Zero Mission is indeed great but Fusion is the true unsung hero of the GBA titles.>b-b-but it's too linear! It has one of the best narratives in any Metroid.
>>12647687I havent played it yet but really want to after this game. Trying to play through the gba library atm. Im sure ill enjoy it alot. Havent actually beaten any of the 2d metroids before just prime 1 2 and 3. So now I'll do 2d games. Using a genesis 6 button if youre curious also feels really good with the gba game lay out
>>12647694>Havent actually beaten any of the 2d metroids before just prime 1 2 and 3Oh man, you gotta also try Super Metroid in that case. The GBA games are based on that. Although one aspect of them which is better is that they're more snappy and less floaty.
>>12647319Laughably bad opinion The only points of contention are the zero suit segment and mecha Ridley being out of place
>>12647386>>12647782old=good new=bad so the original is inherently better because it's older
>>12647687>too linearnever had this complaint in a metroid game. fusion and AM2R were fucking good

>>12648110Did that one have the parry shit from Samus Returns? If so, I'll agree that it's trash without need to ever play it.
>>12648083>super>goodlol
>>12648147NTA but it's the first truly good Metroid. The OG is decent but Super added some much needed improvements and it's easily in the top 5 games on the SNES.
>>12648147Have you even played any of the Metroid series or is this drive-by trolling?
>>12647315Good game. I'll always be split between Super and Fusion though.>>12647423Original is a pretty dry game by later standards, but it helps to play the Famicom version with actual saving, and drawing out a map on paper is mandatory, you simply have to.>>12647520I would personally not hold it much against you, it'd fulfill the same purpose, and the later games added that for extremely good reason.
>>12648160He's fallen on hard times and has to beg on the streets for (You)s.
>>12648156>>12648160played em all. the only good ones are metroid nes and metroid ii. super is too easy. all it has is good presentation. prime games are barely even games. too much walking around and doing nothing. super + prime is carried by graphics + ost instead of gameplay
>>12647782>he had no issue with the waypoint markersgood job invalidating your opinion. even if we both like the game overall, what's clear is that you like it for shallow reasons.
>>12648194>super + prime is carried by graphics + ost instead of gameplayI'm sure it's not the fact that it was the first game to solidify an entire genre.
>>12648194Here, you poor soul, take it and spend it wisely.
>>12647520why not, it makes the game a lot less tedious imo - there are plenty of good metroid nes romhacks >>12647687>muh narrativemetroid doesn't need a narrative, just 'go kill big enemy cause they steal aliens' is good enough
>>12648263>I'm sure it's not the fact that it was the first game to solidify an entire genre.Gatcha is a genre. Yearly COD shooters are a genre. Match 3 Bejeweled-likes are a genre. Just because critics praise it and people buy it doesn't mean it's good. It's lowest common denominator shit
>>12648454>metroid doesn't need a narrativeA good narrative is a good rewardFor example Echoes would've been poorer for not having logs to read. It was something I enjoyed.
>>12648083fuck yeah.thanks to am2r I discovered and played these excellent metroids.
>>12648083Never heard of the metroid 2 remake prior to this post here. Will look up play and download later >>12647698Okay for sure. I should probably play that one next instead of fusion. We'll see what happens. Just like the freedom to kinda mess around and explore stuff
>>12648008>FDS>NESwhat are the differences?
>>12647782How about the shitty ninja physics and shitty unatmospheric OST?
>>12649719The original Famicom Disk System release had saving, letting you write saves directly to the floppy. When it was brought over as an NES game, well, there weren't no disk drives or floppies for the NES, so they make it a cartrigde game obviously, but they probably figured the game wouldn't sell quite enough to justify the price of adding a save battery (Metroid wasn't a big hit in Japan like Mario or Zelda), so they change it to use passwords instead. Not the most elegant. It functions, but long form games like these SCREAM for actual saving, which is why when they re-released Metroid as a normal cartridge game for Famicom in Japan a little while later, they put a save battery in it.
>>12649719Different sound and different enemy behavior
>>12647423>I believed the NES og would be good too and bought it.. hot damn what a disappointment that was lol
>>12648497Nintendo's response to AM2R will never not be hilarious, especially when compared to their own official attempt.
>>12648257The markers you can ignore?
>>12647687The GBA games created a simple preference dichotomy of gameplay vs atmosphere. Fusion's atmosphere was top notch and some of the best in the series, but Zero Mission plays a lot better in terms of general gameplay. Both were great for different reasons.
>>12649958yes. those games nintendo doesn't want you to play are usually great. I want more of those.
>>12647687The chase part was very scary, they got it really well, it doesnt remove the fact that yes, it's too linear for a metroid game
>This threadStinky!Smelly!Yucky!
There aren't a good Metroid on GBA.
ZM feels like a regression after Fusion. I get thats its a remake but it doesn't mean you have to bring retarded shit along for the ride that Fusion got rid of, like infinite enemy pipe farming or godawful long hall + long tower level design. ZM also regressed as far as boss fights go, Kraid and Ridley awkwardly copypasted from SM, and the rest are so shitty its not worth mentioning. Zero suit part was cool though.
>>12650128Yes there is.
>>12650128There are actually 2 good Metroid games on GBA
>>12650128Fusion and Zero Mission were good, but the Metroid classic port was pretty bad ngl
When I sold my collection of over 150 CiB GBA games, this was the only one that I kept.
