What are the funniest examples of censorship in tryto games?
>>
Tryto?

I mean, Retro.
>>
>>12647451
Persona 2 is a PS1 game.
>>

>>12647451
IS came out on the ps1 first. Sunglasses hitler isn't retro though.
>>
>>12647447
The funny part about this is that the background music still chants HAIL HITLER!
>>
>>12647447
I tryto games but I sadly cannot games

Mr. Hilter
>>
>>12647447
Not really funny just interesting, "heaven" in chrono trigger was turned into "lightning" which I actually prefer.

changing God to Goddess in DQ

Not tryto.
>>
Changing any mention of alcohol to soda or coffee.

i've seen people who made media for tv talk about how they have to go out of their way to write "soda" (or something else, but soda is common since it's short) on otherwise nondescript cans or drinks to make it abundantly clear that the characters are not drinking alcohol

The Chinese version of wow infamously censored skeletons, bones, and gore into mundane things like strawmen, bags of grain, and bread.

And since it was done by flat out model swapping in the game files instead of like case by case edits, you get a lot of goofy examples like picrel

This is the funniest censorship

Chinkees don't like being reminded that they killed thousands of people in broad daylight on the 4th of June, 1989, in Tiananmen Square

>>12647447
Kinda cheating with an eroge, but in Rance he frequently refers to his dick as "magnum" among other euphemisms because of censorship laws at the time of the early games, and in Rance 3 the 200-floor high Hyper Building inspires him to name it Hyper Weapon which stuck for the rest of the series.
>>
>>12648741
Wait, Tienanmen Square is why they're so fucking cagey about skeletons and shit in media? I thought it was just them being superstitious or something and thought they were 2spooky
>>
>>12648805
How often does superstition affect media (Not mentioning Macbeth in a theater notwithstanding)? It doesn't. It's not about "superstition", it's about control.
>>
>>12648815
For the sake of argument, existing religious or other cultural taboos can function for control, especially if you then enforce it legally.

But anyway, I just assumed it was considered offensive somehow to traditional Chinese sensibilities or some shit like that, because it was maybe taboo to depict the dead in some ways or some shit.
>>
>>12648824
NTA but all portrayals of necromancy are considered "feudal superstition" and can be used to undermine the legitimacy of the CCP, which presents itself as the objective factual authority on all things and is founded in science so incapable of making a mistake (yes really)
So ghosts are banned, talking to the dead is banned. Sad stories set after 1949 are banned, because you are being "morally nihilist" and suggesting the CCP isn't on a positive trajectory to success. Likewise all portrayals of rebellion or moral ambiguity are banned because you're implying that it's OK to rebel against the CCP or that the CCP isn't absolutely morally upright in every fashion.

These are the official explanations for all of the things, but all of it is a clear reaction to specific events that made them butthurt. For example, time travel is banned because a movie came out that used time travel as metaphor to say the CCP rewrote history. Assembly of peoples is the biggest no-no thing you can do because it is believed that peaceful protest is the biggest vulnerability in their hold on power, so the Great Firewall and surveillance state is largely a reaction to the Tianenmen Square massacre.

Every little measure has an origin story of them being butthurt. Like Github being throttled because in the early 10's someone uploaded an open source proxy made to bypass the Great Firewall. Everyone was downloading it and the State panicked. So they shut down all access to Github and temporarily disrupted global infrastructure. Upon condemnation, they changed it to simply throttle all traffic from Github to the point of unusability, which remains in effect today.

So... Nazis but they hate the occult.

china is such a shit hole
>>
>>12648936
They're Leninists. They have a few similarities with Nazism, like being an authoritarian state that doesn't accept dissent, and utilizing some form of controlled capitalist economy. But their official narrative is that Nazis = evil. All claims of racial hierarchy or superiority are said to be a precursor to separatist movements and are banned.

The German version of SiN had giant boxes with CENSORED written on them around every piece of environmental gore.
It became absolutely ridiculous in the silo level where a severed hand had to be collected to activate a handscanner since the uncensored hand laid right next to a corpse made of boxes.

I don't really care about that one so much. Like ideally it would still be better to not change it but I don't feel you need to go out of your to make a patch so Chrono gets crunk in a stupid mini game. I think there was another part were they changed wine to cider but cider can be alcoholic

More of a "are you fucking serious?" kind of funny

That doesn't really wash with the tons of wuxia action movies over the decades that have depicted the religious Shaolin heroes fighting against the corrupt, evil, all-encroaching government by secretly meeting and training in kung fu.

That's because kung-fu's cool
>>
>>12649446
Almost all of those movies were made in pre-2020 Hong Kong though, which had significantly more autonomy than the mainland. Establishing complete cultural hegemony over HK was one of the main reasons for the national security law.
>>
>>12649459
Fuck off, clanker.
>>
>>12647459
Made picture Kanye scoring this game.

aren't the statues feminine?
>>
Dunno how funny it is, but it's interesting.
The NES port of Maniac Mansion underwent a little back and forth with the Nintendo censors and the devs. They brought the game to the console, and censored the more serious stuff, but Nintendo still objected to various bits so they had to re-censor it. During this second wave of censorship they deleted the reclining tasteful nude statue in the hallway.
This shouldn't have been a problem, but it's where someone on the dev team decided to stick the copyright protection keypad that was originally on the security door, behind that statue. With the statue gone, players could now access the keypad. But since they didn't program any codes into the keypad, there is no valid codes, and failing 3 or 4 times in a row causes the mansion to self-destruct.
On the flip side, the keypad is invisible since they didn't bother to make a sprite for the collision box of the keypad, so people aren't too likely to stumble across it. And now the original prototype has long been dumped, people can play the less-censored version of NES Maniac Mansion with all the stuff that was ported over and then removed.

>Tienanmen Square is why they're so fucking cagey about skeletons and shit in media?
no it's not, it's way older shit
that faggot is just a virtue signlaing westoid tranny pretending to care about muh chink protesters just to smite the CCP
>>
>>12651318
It appears that the big bad westoid has managed to hurt the feelings of the Chinese people.
